Exclamation New Vee-Dubs?

VW plans to produce 20 new cars in the next 5 years. One is a ME roadster based on the concept R, and another is codenamed 'C1', a 4-door coupe slotted between the phaeton and passat.

Re: New Vee-Dubs?

In other words: VW plans lots of cars than have nothing to do with their brand image, while the supposedly Alfa Romeo-rivalling Seat continues with only three model families, one of which outgoing, and the remaining being funky minivans and pretty lacklustre superminis...

VW: believe us, we are a flashy premium brand, but come and get these downmarket Brazilian Foxes!

Re: New Vee-Dubs?

I think VW got an not-so-deserved premium reputation in the 1990's and VW realizes that and it is trying to catch up to that reputation.

I think if people and the media started hailing Buick as a premium brand for some reason, then GM would then consciously make new Buicks better so that image would stay with the brand.

Re: New Vee-Dubs?

camaroman, I don't think that a new Scirocco would be on their agenda at the moment, except for the coupe slotted in between the Phaeton and the Passat. However, I think that VW should start getting rid of pointless models, such as the Golf Plus when you already have the Touran, etc.

Re: New Vee-Dubs?

A new Corrado/Sirocco is indeed forthcoming, as an AWD coupe based on the Jetta in 2008.

I bet it'll cost a bucketload though. I also don't know where VW got it's premium image; I guess people just thought any german car had to be premium.

VW cars have very high-end looking interiors--very cleanly designed and the materials used are very good for the segments they are in. That's pretty much the source of VW's perceived premium image, along with it being a German car company and all.

It has a very nice design and has soft plastic, but The quality of the plastics are horrible. Ill take a pic and show everyone.

Re: New Vee-Dubs?

I'm loving VW's new designs and the fact that their premium cars and are the cost of regular Chevys and Toyotas.

Re: New Vee-Dubs?

There plastics to me feel sturdy and not so hallow like a lot of other cars do. its mostly attention to detail that most German cars normally have granted im sure theres a few things off but for the money prob the best interior around. I just wanna see a subcompact with a Diesel TDI motor come out here 60mpg or higher.
