new audi's with less front overhang

http://www.eurocarblog.com/post/199/...4-2008-rumours

its about time they do this. thats the main thing i hate about audis, that huge front over hang makes it look like a FWD.

As for the S8 with lambos v10 under the hood, about 3000 lbs of it is under the front tires.

Ironic that some of the Audis are actually FWD cars.

That's what I thought. Like the change though.

I don't know but i like cars with overhang to them i IMHO think cars with no to very little overhang look odd and stupid to me

All Audis are FWD standard, but the more powerful versions come with AWD AFAIK. I must say they have really reduced front overhangs over the last few years.

Seeing those production plans, I believe Audi is going straight the Mercedes way - too many models to make sense.

Base model Audis are usually FWD, including the Audi A8.
But in some places like in North America A8 models are always AWD(Quattro), I guess this is because the base engine in North America is a V8, while in other countries they have a FWD V6 model.

Re: new audi's with less front overhang

Only the entry level A3, A4 & TT are fwd, with awd optional, or standard on higher models. The TT is being phased out as the next generation will hit the streets sometime next year, and I believe it has standard AWD. As for the A6, A8, S4, S6, S8, RS4, and Q7, they are all AWD

Re: new audi's with less front overhang

The following Audi models come with FWD standard:

all A2s, no Quattro option
A3s except for 3.2
A4s except for 3.2, 1.6 and 1.9TDI do not have the Quattro option even
A6 2.4 and 3.2 (there is a 3.2 Quattro, though), as well as TDIs
A8 3.0
TT with 1.8Ts in 150 and 180 PS versions

I guess the vast majority of Audis sold are non-Quattros.

Re: new audi's with less front overhang

Quattro is standard on all Audi SUV models, such as the Allroad and Q7.

Quattro is also standard on the S and RS high performance models and the A6 and A8 models equipped with the 4.2 V8 or 6.0 W12.

However, Quattro may be an option depending of the model and version.

For instance...

...You can either have the Audi A3 or A4 with the 2.0 16V Turbo or the 3.2 V6 24V as FWD or as AWD (Quattro).

Re: new audi's with less front overhang

the funny thing about most of Audis FWD is that the engine is mount transversely, like the old acura legends and the old 300/intrepid.

Re: new audi's with less front overhang

You mean LONGITUDINALLY, like in RWD vehicles.
