<motortrend>: Luxury Sport Sedan Comparison

http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...son/index.html

enjoy

if the comparison is price-based then it's unfair to the Lexus and if it's class-based then the Jag is out of place. the Benz had them in power to weight and in 0-60 ... he he he.

CTS falls in between classes. But they tested the higher end sedans. CTS has no comparable model.

Edit: A Jaguar actually won a comparo???? And it out corners and out brakes the 550i???

I'll take a 535i, please. Virtually same performance as these and 20 grand in my pocket. Not to mention it will handle even better than the 550i thanks to lighter weight.

The XF is not out of place - it is in the mid-luxury class.

I would have liked to see the M45 in this comparison as I know it has garnered top ratings in other publications - We have to see if it is still top of the heap.

the XF is not, the XF-R is, they brought the supercharged version into the comparison.

Re: <motortrend>: Luxury Sport Sedan Comparison

I must say, even though I am not a fan of the XF, in this comparison, it's the one I would take too. It's the one that stands out. The E looks the same as it did 5 years ago, I could never buy the GS, I find it's design repulslive and the 5-series is equally disgusting to me.

Wow the lexus is REALLY bland in all respects compared to the others. Lexus is in a rut.

The 5er looks the best, the Jaguar is a great car, but looks nothing like the concept, disappointing.

Infiniti is a lot more serious about it than Acura has been. The M45 is rear wheel drive, pretty quick, has a nice interior, good driving experience, and all the standard technical doodads. It won a few comparison tests when it first came out.

Re: <motortrend>: Luxury Sport Sedan Comparison

The only remaining glaring oversight in the CTS range is the lack of a V8 version outside of the 'set on kill' V Series. While refinement might not be quite at the level it should even the detuned 400hp version of the LS3 available in the G8 would be better than the nothing were getting. Think about it, I can drop 30k and get a V8 in the new G8 but I can't get a V8 outside of the LSA in a CTS at any price. It doesn't make sense.

Lack of a V8 kept it from playing in this comparo and it keeps the car from being parked in at least a few thousands driveways every year.

The engine in the STS V8 didn't change for the model year 2008 redesign, while the Lexus GS went from a 300 horsepower 4.3 liter V8 to a 342 horsepower 4.6 liter V8 for model year 2008. That's why they included the Lexus, and not the STS.

Re: <motortrend>: Luxury Sport Sedan Comparison

It's probably for the better, the STS would have been slower than the GS even.
