Lamborghini shelves plans for SUV, four-place supercoupe

Lamborghini shelves plans for SUV, four-place supercoupe

According to Auto Express, Lamborghini’s long-rumored plans for an SUV and a four-place supercar have been nixed.

Scuttlebutt that the company had been planning a successor to their legendary LM002 offroader and Espada four-seat supercoupe have been circulating for quite some time, but in a new conversation with company president Stephan Winkelmann, Auto Express has learned the two models will not see the light of day.

As an alternative, Lamborghini is said to be studying various spin-offs of the Murcielago and Gallardo, with an emphasis on light weight and perhaps a renewed emphasis on rear-wheel-drive. Both of these design bogeys would appear to auger well for the production hopes of the sensational Miura concept that debuted at the North American International Auto Show this past January, but no word appears forthcoming.

There's a reason for that: they were never going to be made.

Auto Express = pure, unaltered, B/S.
