Jaguar XK-E voted most romantic car

London: The Jaguar XK-E also known as the E-type has been voted as the most romantic car in a poll conducted by Auto trader magazine.

The Jaguar XK-E was first introduced in March 1961 in Geneva, Switzerland. It revolutionised sports car design, with performance, handling and looks ahead of its time. Development of the car started as a race car program based on the on the 50's Le Mans winning D type race car. As the prototypes were built and tested, circumstances and the racing world changed and the project gradually became a production car. Over 70,000 E-types were sold over 14 years.

Among other cars considered romantic were the stretch limo, pink Cadillac and Volkswagen Beetle convertible. The Ford Transit van was voted as the least romantic car, reports the Scotsman.

Re: Jaguar XK-E voted most romantic car

The Series I is the best (with the covered headlights), although the 3.8L motor was a bit troublesome. I had a 1965 Series 1˝ where the turn signals were relocated below the bumper, but with the 4.2L motor. I had to get rid of it (just before the E-Type prices started to go up ) because the kit alone for the interior was outrageously expensive!
