Re: How NOT To Name A Car

I could not make this stuff up if I tried.

I saw the new Rabbit at the NYIAS and was VERY impressed. It blows the Cobalt/Pursuit away.

I can't imagine that they can retail this vehicle for $14990.

I think it will be huge.

Rabbit is a way better name then Fit. That's un-biased too.

Re: How NOT To Name A Car

I wasn't that impressed with it, actually. But I was highly unimpressed with the Cobalt, so I guess it tops it in that respect. It's a nice car though, and very well priced. Just not for me.

The current MKV Golf is German made but the next gen Rabbit/Golf is supposed to be assembled in Mexico last I heard.

Well, at least the people that remember having a Rabbit always seem to think highly of them. That has been my experience with people I have known.

It all depends on if sales increase. Golf sales have been poor enough in North America that they stopped making them in Mexico a while back. And this model (which is a compact...it's a direct replacement for the outgoing Golf) isn't, in my opinion, anything radical or market-changing. It's a good car...just like the previous four generations of Golfs were. Americans perfer the Jetta. Simply changing the name of the Golf to Rabbit won't make people come running. A rose is a rose...

Re: How NOT To Name A Car

I almost bought one of those ^. The name change was so last minute it almost makes me worry. I have seen pics of Rabbits with the Golf letters ripped off and the rabbit logo stuck on. Its a nice idea but not a necessary move in my mind.

Re: How NOT To Name A Car

Cobalt = Cavalier
Impala = Lumina
And Yukon is a lot more outdoorsy than suburban.
And who thought up blazer/S10 blazer/ trailblazer ?
