The guy who sued Ferrari because his 360 Challenge Stradale wasn't fast enough.

Does anyone remember this story?

Translation:

My Ferrari is too slow, give my money back.

Since time that it worked hard, "Jörg Winterberg", a 60 year-old Berliner businessman, dreamed to buy a Ferrari. Last month, having concluded some advantageous markets, he went to the dealer, and bought a 360 "Challenge Stradale", a car that worth more 150.000€, able to reach the 300km/h (185 Mph) according to the prospect.

The disappointment of Mr Winterberg is understood when he realized that his car did not manage to exceed the 280km/H on the German Autobahn, where there is not speed limit. He thus brought back the Stradale to the garage, by requiring that it be refunded, but Ferrari don't care about it and don't even comment about it. The business was carried in front of the courts.

Good for old Jorn there. Too bad it took him until after he bought the car to realize a Ferrari is overpriced (now that the Z06 is out), performance-wise.

I have a feeling Z06s are shunned in the land of the prancing horses and bulls.

He should have bought a Ford GT or a Lamborghini Gallardo for the same price as the 360 CS.

Considering the Gallardo is a heavy, soft pig of a posers car compared to the knife edge Challenge Stradale.

Ford GT is good, but i would be hard pressed to take one over a limited edition Ferrari...

But then again, all those cars have "fart burners" on them. That "fart burner" ads 5-10HP to your car ;some of those small Hondas can whip a Vett off the line. (from anti-rice.com)
So 115hp+10hp=430hp, at least in ricerland

The guy seems to be a bit overboard, but I can see his point and I sorta agree with him. If the car is supposed to do 300km/h, and you leave your arm and leg at the dealership to bring the car home, I'd expect it to run as advertised too.

Similarly with the 99 Mustang Cobras. They didn't make the advertised hp, so people stood together to make Ford do something about it. If this is legitimate, I'd hope Ferrari acts on it quickly cause lacking performance for supercars is bad for business.

absolutely, i'd sue ferrari too, its not like its 0-60 or quarter times where there is driver error that can account for slower times, its top speed (maybe it was speed limited?) i'd have to know more of the story to judge...

Re: The guy who sued Ferrari because his 360 Challenge Stradale wasn't fast enough.

ya i feel sorry for the guy. i mean, 60 years old and having a great respect for ferrari. you would expect some standerds. i wonder if ferrari would refund his buy or add some performance to that limited edition ferrari.

and the reason no one would consider buying a lambo or ford is because its not a ferrari. ferraris are just a great performance car maker. and its the heritage of a ferrari thats widely accepted. lamborghini and ferrari is just a bias of what styles you like. and ford gt is a great car, lots of "history" but again its the title ford that people dont like. its like do you want the no name pop or the cocacola? lol. bad simile but you get what im saying hopefully

Why is he an idiot? Would you accept a broken $180k car?

A low top speed is usually a sure indicator of the engine being low on power, and if you pay for 425hp, you should get 425hp, not 350 or 380. This man has every right to demand a refund.

Gallardo would have been an option, but I fear Ford GT's aren't really engineered for Autobahn-speeds.
