CLS; Really Original?

To, MB, they think they have done something totally new by maing a Sedan with a couple-like roofline. However, It is not the the first car to have this idea, nor is it the first to perfect it. Enter 2004 and 05 Audi A6:

2004 A6: http://jodorowski.free.fr/voitures/audi%20a6.JPG

2005 A6: http://wallpaper.speedycars.net/audi...e_2005_014.jpg

2005 CLS: http://wallpaper.speedycars.net/mb/M...0_2005_003.jpg

In reality, the CLS C pillar ends just as close to the rear of the car as a regular Sedan, but the beltline of the rear increases so it gives the Illusion that it ends farther back.

Re: CLS; Really Original?

To me, the CLS will just look like a gussied up Aurora.

Though, I did have the chance to sit in one at MacWorld 2005. It really is quite a stunning car... and it has an iPod Adapter option!!!

But for the price, Mercedes can go kiss my.. *** ... Sorry... I'm a bit bitter at the moment, as I just spent $8000 to fix my C280.

Besides that, I'm still trying to figure out how this car slots in between the E500 and the S430. It really doesn't offer any different a value proposition other than it is more "coupe like."

Re: CLS; Really Original?

Don't you mean S500? The 430 was upgraded to 500 a while ago, and the 320 is being converted to 350, beginning with the E class, now, I believe.

I think you're mistaken. Mercedes-Benz still makes the S430: http://www.mbusa.com/brand/models/S430V.jsp

They don't, however, make a 6-cylinder S-Class for the U.S. anymore.

Re: CLS; Really Original?

Doesn't the 1999 - 2003 Pontiac Grand Prix 4-door have the same roofline profile as the coupe? I seemed to recall reading it somewhere.
