Cayenne hybrid to beat out Tahoe?

http://www.autoblog.com/2007/11/11/l...ayenne-hybrid/

Quote:
Due by the end of the decade, the Cayenne uses a parallel hybrid system that will help the SUV achieve fuel economy of at least 26 US MPG. This, while retaining its off-road capabilities and and a towing capacity of 7,000 pounds...
So, 26 MPG and 7000lbs?

Where is the Tahoe Hybrid? 6000lbs? 21MPG?

Re: Cayenne hybrid to beat out Tahoe?

They can claim whatever mpg they want. I won't believe they beat the two-mode until I see actual data.

Re: Cayenne hybrid to beat out Tahoe?

Isn't the cayenne a crossover?

Much easier to get good mpg out of a crossover(unibody).

Re: Cayenne hybrid to beat out Tahoe?

Even if the Cayenne hybrid betters the Tahoe hybrid for fuel economy, the Tahoe has much more interior room. I don't believe the Cayenne even offers a third row of seats.

Can't remember the last time I saw someone towing anything with a Cayenne.

Something should be done about the Tahoe's tow rating though.

http://www.autobloggreen.com/2007/11...battery-power/

It can also do 75mph on battery power (and this is NiMH!).

I care about technological superiority. At 26mpg, the Tahoe would be flying off the lots. GM needs the kind of publicity--and profits--that the hybrids can bring.
