Looks good, but I don't like the wheel nor color selection. Plus, 440HP from a V10 is very depressing...

Re: Audi S6 Prototypes Spied

I doubt that this will become an S6, it will most likely become an RS6. The current A6 comes with a 335hp 4.2L v8, they could easily squeeze 400+hp out of this, they allready have in the new RS4. I think that they will use a high output v8 around 400hp for the S6, and maybe this v10 500+hp version for a RS6.

I would love to see the A4, S4, RS4, and A6, S6, RS6, all in the lineup at the same time. Don't expect an S8 coming back.

I'd like to see an S3, but I dont think they have any motor to put in it. They allready offer the A3 with the 3.2L VR6 (240hp), quattro, DSG. Audi/VW is rumored to be developing a 3.6L VR6 to use in a Golf R36, thats the next powerfull motor that could go into that platform but unless its pushing 300hp I dont see enough of a difference to warrent a new S-line.

The Q7 (SUV) will be based on the toureg/chayenne platform. I wouldnt be suprised to see a bi-turbo v8 model for the S7.

Wow...I rambled on alot about the entire S-line...I'll shutup now

Re: Audi S6 Prototypes Spied

That's a Beautiful car.

RCtennis3811 - If you think 440 Bhp from a 5.2 V10 is depressing...you may be right, since the BMW M5 is outputting 507 Bhp from an "almost" similar engine.

By the way: That information is Incorrect - The New Audi S6 RS6 will feature a 5.5 V10 Engine with 550 Bhp.

Depressing?

The Gallardo V10 makes 500 horsepower at 7800 RPMs and 369 pound feet of torque at 4500 RPMs.

500 horsepower * 5252 / 7800 = 337 pound feet of torque at 7800 RPMs.

So torque goes from 369 at 4500 to 337 at 7800 - pretty darn flat, losing just 32 pound feet over 3300 RPMs. If we assume the torque descent is more or less linear, the engine makes 440 horsepower at about 6700 RPMs.

If Audi puts the electronic throttle cutoff at 6750 RPMs for the RS6, you have a powertrain that's virtually identical to the one in the Gallardo across 6700 RPMs. That's still beastly powerful.

Re: Audi S6 Prototypes Spied

This is the Midlevel model guys:

A6 < S6 < RS6

...The Last one is the one we have to worry about. Currently the STS-V could take on the S6, but the RS6 will likely have a higher tuned V-10, with 500HP.

I wouldn't call the A6 a "base" model, it comes in either a v6 or v8.

Regardless it is still the "base" model compared to the S and RS.

Ay Dios Mio: Fine for those who are nitpicky:

A6 3.2 < A6 4.2 < S6 < RS6
