    2014 Audi RS6 Avant

    From Worldcarfans.com

As expected, the model is powered by a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine that produces 560 HP (412 kW) and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque. It is connected to an eight-speed tiptronic transmission and a quattro all-wheel drive system with a torque vectoring differential. This enables the wagon to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 3.9 seconds and hit a top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph), 280 km/h (174 mph) with the optional Dynamic package and 305 km/h (190 mph) with the optional Dynamic plus package.

To maximize fuel efficiency, the engine features start/stop technology and a cylinder-on-demand system which deactivates four-cylinders when they aren't needed. This enables the model to average 9.8 L/100km (24 mpg US) which is roughly 40 percent better than its predecessor.

This car will match the S8's 3.5 second 0-60 time if not exceed it, and 3.9 seconds 0-60 is definitely conservative.

    it is not 0-60 mph (that would be 96 km/h)..it is 0-100 km/h (or 62 mph) in 3.9 s

    Gotcha my friend....

I thought I'd cast that out and catch a few after the s8 thread!

Happy holidays! Oh and I'm still waiting for the sexy S5 to get this motor and not cost 6 figures......

Is that turbo v8 a major factor in pricing over 6 figures?

This engine is not altogether inexpensive to produce but truthfully it is Audi's presumptuous RS pricing in the US that will make this car expensive not the engine spec alone.

US pricing has not been announced, and it may never at this point but given Audi's current presumptuous RS pricing I would imagine that you are not exactly wide of the mark.

Typically you subtract two tenths of a second from the 0-62 ( 100 km/h) time to arrive at a true 0-60 number. The current 420 hp S6 which is not utterly divergent in kerb weight is already capable of 3.7 seconds 0-60 hence my estimation that these numbers are conservative.

Except that this will not be on sale in the states.

Caddy needs to continue with the CTS-V Wagon, though.
