2009 Mercedes-Benz SL 65 AMG Black Series unveiled
Here it is — the interim heir to the Mercedes-Benz SLR’s throne. With the McLaren-Mercedes supercar heading out of production, Daimler is rolling out the most powerful and sporty SL ever — the SL 65 AMG Black Series. It will be the most hardcore ‘Benz on the market until the eventual arrival of the SLC über coupe.

5-spd auto... cartoony font on the IP... It looks like a transformer. It's got a ton of power and stuff... but ... really?? It's lost a lot of the elegance that makes a Mercedes a Mercedes. Even the SLR was elegant.

too bad Cadillac or GM for that matter has ABSOLUTELY NO ANSWER to that type of car.
The mercedes looks more spaceship darth vader styled. It looks nice in interior layout, similar to Cruze/Insignia in dash design actually. I'm with MG on the gauges, not overly-impressive. Still HATE that 200 foot mercedes badge on the front, as if you have to scream 3pointed star as if that is a classic elegant thing to do...eyeroll CobaltSS

Ouch! This thing just looks overwrought. Look at the way the lower front fascia and the wheels stick out. It does look cartoonish. This is not a well-integrated design. Ick.

Don't discount the XLR-V either. I sat in a 2008 model last week (first time I had ever seen one in the flesh let alone sat in it) and I was impressed how nice it was. I think the XLR-V looks a whole lot more classy than this thing. Yeesh! Sorry M-B.

The ultimate German SL, Mercedes Benz doesn't sit still...That's why Cadillac can't compete against it! Decades of refinement and pushing every automotive limit, these fabulous machines keep raising the bar.
While I don't particularly like the bulging profile, I understand that much of the design has to do with aerodynamics and I must admit, it's Bad Ass!

I like it! It's a Mercedes version of the Viper, overpowered and Darth Vader badass. I think the c-piller should be larger and the b-piller smaller and needs to be even more light but those are my only complants. I'd also like to see this in flat black, it'd go great with those wheels and add to the bad-ass!

A V12 biturbo, but they couldn't afford better plastic for the IP, steering wheel, and center stack? And why does one need to insert a key if it has push-button start?
