You mean the M3 wasn't already launched in the US?

I'm guessing that doesn't include the ~$2000 gas guzzler tax. So when you factor in the $775 destination, real world pricing should start at about $60k for the coupe.

Holy crapper.....I can't believe it's that cheap! The 335i gets pretty close to the cost of this new m3.

Re: 2008 BMW M3 prices announced

Near $60 was what I have been hearing for a while now. Seems like alot for a M3 to me. If I was in the market for a M3, I would rathar get a late model, low mile E46 M3. Even if you have the $60g's to pony up for one of the new M3's its not like you will get one anytime soon, the first shipment of the M3's (and 1 series) had a bad accident and totaled most of them from what I have read!

Errrr.... That's what history checks are for? If I lived in America I'd hope that they remove the Engine and gearbox from the dead-loss cars *drool*

This is not all that uncommon to have cars turn up to the docks in a very bad state, I've seen quite a few brand new cars (And imported used cars alike) sitting in the docks completely smashed up.

Re: 2008 BMW M3 prices announced

All of the "total loss" cars are going to be sent to the crusher. I doubt they will spend any time parting things out.

I do worry about the ones that are in OK shape but still damaged. I think that they should be parted out and/or crushed rather than fixed. I doubt any of the new owners will be notified that their vehicle was damaged before the dealer got it....
