2007 Volkswagen Touareg Facelift

The two joint venture off roaders, Porsche Cayenne and Volkswagen Touareg, are about to get a major facelift due for launch in 2007. Both cars came on the market for the first time in 2002.

While already numerous prototypes of the restyled Porsche Cayenne got caught on photo, the revamped future Touareg went unnoticed until now.

Here are first photos showing details of the upcoming Touareg facelift. The prototype was snapped during an overnight stop next to a hotel parking lot in Northern Scandinavia.

As can be seen from the photos, the Touareg gets new headlights and an altered front end as well as air intakes in the front skirt. The rear end has also different taillights, and – according to the shot of the dashboard - the car will also get an all new instrument panel and centre console. In the photo the engineers have put covers over the dashboard in conceal the new look.

A typical facelift for facelift's sake - there's no significant difference, the new details just look a bit weird. Kind of like the MkI focus facelift in Europe - the car actually looked cheaper after it.

agreed, done for the sake of doing. Heck it seems EVERY one is drooping their headlamps from bmw to audi to chrysler. Now VW...hmmm

check out the manual tranny on the TDI V8, too bad they (or anyone else) don't offer anything like that here.

Touareg definitely has one of the nicest interiors in cars sold today. Especially for the price. It's REALLY nice. Can't wait for the update.

Doesn't look like that much done. Headlights are kinda Sabb-ish I think.

It is too bad that a diesel stick SUV doesnt exist in america, however, only the V-6 TDI as shown in the picture can have a manual box, the V-10 TDI has to use the automatic because of the torque

Aww, I was hoping it would get the VW sheild. It would look nice with those headlights.

looks better now, but still kinda bloated looking. from the rear it could be mistaken for a golf...that's been raised and enlarged.

Re: 2007 Volkswagen Touareg Facelift

I didn't like the new face of VW (chrome grill surround top-to-bottom), but I have grown into liking it, which is why I'm disappointed that the facelifted Touareg won't get it. Now it just looks outdated and out of place.
