Re: 2006 VW Passat.

To be honest, I like this Passat. I think. It seems to me that the Passat is a longer Jetta. Most times I don't like that, but when the Passat is your flagship sedan and it looks like this, the name and it's purpose seem to come together a lot more than the previous generation. Someone may find it odd that I don't like that Jetta but like the Passat in the new generations, but the Passat fits as it's supposed to be, where the Jetta doesn't. I don't know if I've explained myself very well or not.

Re: 2006 VW Passat.

That interior is soo fugly! So is the rear end! And I mean those headlights are like the exact same thing as on the A6. WTF is VW trying to go upscale? VW should be a German Chevy-Ford and, as Ming I think it is says, ToyoHondissan.

That brand has audi, lambo, bentley, bugati with their new 1 mill car. They DONT need another luxo brand!!

Not really exact, its more of like a combination of A6 headlights and Concept C headlights.

This is just the replacement of the current Passat(which is priced just a bit higher than the japanese mid-size sedans), it won't be priced anything like a Phaeton... but if this Passat looks like a real luxury car, good work to its designers.

The 2006 Passat, now with transvere mounted engines will no longer offer an 8-cylinder option because VW's W8 and V8 wount fit.

Re: 2006 VW Passat.

In my opinion, VW didn't mess up the Passat like they did the Jetta. I don't like the new family taillights- they are pretty reminicent of the Corolla. VW will get some old Toyota buyers out of this, though.

Not bad, but not breathtaking either. I do however like the slanting dashboard with its typical VW style.

I was thinking the same thing... honestly. I don't think that this car is offensive, but I think the Bangle lines work better at BMW; I'm not so sure I buy the "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery" saying.

Re: 2006 VW Passat.

It also looks as if VW copied the new Astra's (or was it the Vectra's) steering wheel...

Re: 2006 VW Passat.

Well, it certainly looks upscale. And better than the A6, if you ask me.
How3ever, I think VW will price this a bit higher than the previous model... and will probably alienate buyers. I'd say $34K base.
