The dealership I work at recently acquired a 2005 Volvo S40 2.4i on trade. This car has 146,000 miles, 5 speed, no rust and after driving it, I can attest that it runs and drives like new.
Any weird quirky Volvo things I should watch for?
I'm actually going to use this as my "winter" car and keep the Saturn out of the salt. I'm probably going to trade in the Cherokee. The Jeep is in nice shape but after owning it for a year I have realized that I really have no use for an SUV. It has never felt like my vehicle (I've only owned cars, so going to a vehicle that handles like a Jeep, I can't say I'm too impressed on that front even though I don't expect a luxury ride from it).
The guy that traded it gave us his number to get the service records from, and the timing belt was changed at 120K or whenever Volvo recommends. This car basically needs pads/rotors, tires and two little paint chips in the hood touched up to have an essentially new car. They sure build them to last.
