Toyota fan proposes anti-Toyota (in NASCAR) thread

Okay guys, this is just getting too hard to follow. No matter what the subject, every thread seems to degenerate into a Toyota Bashathon. Don't get me wrong - I'm all for it. Gives me a bit of a laugh.

But I'm a bit disappointed that threads I want to comment on are either closed or simply run out of steam because the bashers have migrated to a newer thread.

So here's my proposal...
A dedicated Toyota bashing thread, no holds barred, leaving the others to retain some degree of sanity and reasoned comment. We can't kid ourselves that it's going to blow over anytime soon.
How about it administrators? You can delete anything you like from all other threads, but don't deny me the enjoyment of feeling superior to all these rednecks.

And to start us off...

Waltrip takes out Earnhardt - that's a conspiracy.
Marlin backs off in the last lap, after being appraised of the situation by his crew, to qualify another Chevy at the expense of a Toyota. Thats...?

Re: Toyota fan proposes anti-Toyota thread

Actually I see every thread often being turned into anti-GM by Toyota fans or anti-GM folks on the site. The bottom line is that this is a GM fan site, and GM's main competitor IS Toyota - I think one should expect Toyota to be critisized - heck someone has to!! Try suggesting only anti-GM in one thread on a Toyota site...see my point?!!

Ya since the automotive media has simply refused to agree that Toyota can falter.
Superiority is a relative term. To play with the sterotype...Toyotas are only bought by tree huggers from California. "Rednecks" buy GM vehicles because we recognize engineering excellence when we see it.

Re: Toyota fan proposes anti-Toyota thread

Yea exactly its not going to happen. I see just as much Toyota bashing as GM bashing on this forum. But its cool because I like hearing both sides of the competition but sometimes it does get out of control.

Re: Toyota fan proposes anti-Toyota thread

I'll spell it out, step by step, shall I?

This particular forum is "Motorsports Discussion", and the flavour of the month is NASCAR. Toyota is not the only manufacturer in NASCAR, but they seem to get a mention in every thread, even the ones that are irrelevant.

I'm not a tree hugger, nor a Californian. In fact, I've been a Holden and GM fan since I was knee-high to a grasshopper. But I also own two Toyotas.

It's only natural that some people are going to be more zealous than others in their support of one brand over another, and that is made perfectly clear quite regularly.

What I'm proposing (only half seriously - why must I explain everything to you Americans?) is that we confine the current, topical NASCAR Toyota discussion to one thread in this particular forum. It would be much easier for everyone to have their say rather than jumping from one thread to another and repeating themselves.

Re: Toyota fan proposes anti-Toyota thread

The NASCAR threads have gotten out of hand, and some of them have been closed for that reason. I'm not the one to decide, but to me it seems that most of it was instigated by the GM camp. That saddens me.

Outside of the Motorsports forum, things are for the most part balanced.

Re: Toyota fan proposes anti-Toyota thread

I've been here for years and although I don't post a lot, I'm here reading almost everyday.

Personally, I've found over the past couple of months, the number of noobs signing up that are pro-Toyota has gotten out of hand.

When they enter a thread, they bash GM and then the pro-GM camp returns fire and that results in a loss of any good information.

It wasn't like this 6 months ago. The pro-GM camp did not bash Toyota like they do now until all these extra pro-Toyota people showed up.

Re: Toyota fan proposes anti-Toyota thread

W.A.F.U. - Toyota wasn't in the Nextel Cup 6 months ago.

nsap - I'm happy to take on the GM camp and their xenophobic conspiracy theories, I think it just needs to be confined to one thread.

Zigmeister - I don't read any Nascar related threads. I'm not a fan. I was basing my opinion on all other threads.

Re: Toyota fan proposes anti-Toyota thread

THANK YOU!

I was just thinking about this the other day..not that I want to sit around and blindly bash Toyota all day..but why the hell cant anyone voice a negative opinion on them without the thread getting closed?! And some will argue that there are a few people that ruin it by making stupid BS posts that hold no water, but thats BS! I've seen great threads closed because a few people argued in a way that based their own opinions as whats real and it wasnt in favor to imports...hell, people do that around here all the time and get praised for it, but generally it's when bashing something GM or Domestic..and since this IS a GM focused community, it makes no sense that we close more threads that involve import critisizm than domestic ones. Why is it that regular members with high post counts can walk all over and trample the opinions of those who are in support of GM and other domestics?! Why do import companies get the benefit of the doubt on everything?? Why do we all of a sudden have a wave of threads dedicated to domestic race teams having problems in Nascar ever since Toyota had one of the biggest in the history of the sport?!

Well atleast I had a brief say in this thread..it will be closed by days end.

Start one against GM and we will see it thru 40 pages.

Re: Toyota fan proposes anti-Toyota (in NASCAR) thread

I don't see any harm in Toyota entering NASCAR. I bleed "Red, White and Blue", but since Toyota is already a staple of the American car scene, it's inevitable.

Actually, since Dale died, this could get me interested in NASCAR again, to cheer for the "Red, White and Blue".

Dale, Jr. and Harvick are probably the 2 drviers I follow now.

Like I said earlier, somebody makes a silly comment and then some Toyota fanboy rushes to the rescue and the waste of bandwidth is on!

You just proved my point for me. Thanks.
