Tony Stewart fined for bad language

Stewart docked 25 points and fined for bad language

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- NASCAR announced Tuesday that Tony Stewart has been fined $25,000 and penalized 25 Nextel Cup Series driver championship points, as a result of using inappropriate language during a post-race televised interview following his victory Sunday at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Stewart, driver of the No. 20 Chevrolet, retains his fifth-place standing in the series points, with his total points reduced to 2,599.

Stewart violated Section 12-4-A of the series rule book (actions detrimental to stock car racing) by using the inappropriate language.

In addition, Stewart's car owner, Joe Gibbs, has been penalized 25 car owner championship points because of the infraction.

What did he do, drop the F-bomb, the most overused swear word in America. Everybody uses it, the shock value is gone. 80 yr. old grandmothers say it when they lose at bingo

Re: Tony Stewart fined for bad language

I'm ok with it. Pretty consistent with what Nascar does when the language issue comes up. I'm pretty sure it is the same thing they did to Earnhardt Junior earlier this year (or late last year) when he did the same.

He said something to the effect of thanking his fans for sticking with him through all of the "BS".

Re: Tony Stewart fined for bad language

i bet 'ol smoke's response to the penalty will be the same phrase that caused the infraction. theyre really restricting the personalities of everyone there. They were looking at penalizing harvick for giving smoke a congratulatory donut on his door when everyone knows harvick and smoke are best friends and smoke is on harvick's payroll for his busch team.

Isn't that a tradition in NASCAR? They are taking away what made NASCAR great one piece at a time. They could learn a lesson from professional hockey - limit fighting, discourage aggressiveness, and lose fans.

No, seriously. This has got to be the lamest piece of $hit I've heard. If your going to be fined $25 grand at least say a really bad word and get your monies worth.

No wonder people hate NASCAR. weenies

That is lame. That word is not swearing....it is SLANG! There is diffeence. It is one of the best words to use in a frustrating situation.

Re: Tony Stewart fined for bad language

NASCAR is instituting a new rule...

Rule 12-A, Section 13: No driver in any NASCAR racing series is allowed to have a personality, or act like a normal person or show emotion when on television or speaking on radio.

Of course, this is not real.

Re: Tony Stewart fined for bad language

I was about 50 feet away from him when he said it, just on the other side of the gate, I was susprised he said it, but it was totally deliberate, if it was a slip I would dissagree with the penalty, but in this case he deserved it. He knew he was infront of 250,000 fans and on live national TV!

Re: Tony Stewart fined for bad language

In the rare instance I watch a NASCAR event, Tony Stewart is the driver I root for. He's the lesser of the drama queen drivers. Pay your fine and smile Tony.
