Sebring 24Hours

Timo Bernhard, Romain Dumas and Emmanuel Collard drove their Porsche
RS Spyder to an overall win this weekend at the 56th Twelve Hours of
Sebring. The last time a Porsche won the race was back in 1988 when
Hans Stuck and Klaus Ludwig took victory in a 962.

Winning driver Emmanuel Collard said ''The key today is that we ran
without a problem - gearbox, engine and race strategy, that's why
we won this race.''

This victory shamed all the LMP1 class contestants including Peugeot
and Audi. It was the first time these teams had shared track space
and they battled for the first 131 laps. Eventually both suffered
technical mishaps and too much time in the pits.

The E85 powered Corvette C6Rs ran flawlessly in GT1 and made Johnny
O'Connell the winningest driver in Sebring history. It was his
seventh class victory, a record previously held by Phil Hill. GT2
was a little more contested: Flying Lizard Motorsports took the a
1-2 victory, but only after the leading Risi Competizione Ferrari
suffered a collision.

Many of the winning cars, drivers and teams can be seen in our
feature gallery.

Re: Sebring 24Hours

the title to this thread should say 12 not 24 hours. Yeah the vettes are the still the best, I bet running e-85 makes up for any restrictions/weight that they put on the cars

I can't wait for that either... it's always better when Corvette has some competition.

BTW, they mentioned during the broadcast that Corvette Racing (and I guess Pratt & Miller) had sold quite a few C6.Rs in Europe, so expect to see a few of them in the 24hr as well.

I was able to see a little bit of the race on Saturday, and congrats to Roger Penske for the overall win and Pratt & Miller for winning the GT Class. Though in the ALMS, the GT class should be renamed the C6.R class not because they win almost every race, but they really don't have any true compitition. There is a team that is running I think 2 year old Masserati (sp?) and that is about it. But it is very cool to see an E85 Vette running pretty well with the big boys.
