    WOW - A "Clean-Green" finish.

Only 3 1/2 hours too, that went pretty quick!

I think Kenseth should have stayed low, the top groove didn't seem as fast (especially when Lagano was up there)

Race was so-so. I don't like the aero package they have right now. Too much dependence on others. Kenseth lucky he didn't get much damage by blocking at the end. Harvick is only driver that could hold on when car got loose off of 4. The others ended up on the hook.

Average and unexciting racing throughout the Daytona 500, but awesome last half mile of the race. Hamlin deserves the win. He drove his car to the front with perfect timing and execution.

Usual Daytona. Insanely boring for 95% of the race. The splitter is destroying some teams when they hit the grass which is dumb IMO.

Cars got way too loose in the dumbest situations too. Give them a little more power but let them have more aero so they can stick to the track better.

Hard to understand why Stewart Hass is switching to Ford and Roush Fenway. They say they are not getting best equipment from Hendricks?

Well Roush Fenway is doing terrible, can't even remember when they won there last race (not in 2015). But last year Kevin Harvick and Kurt Busch did very well with Hendricks engines!

Must be something else going on!

Money. Roush'es poor performance probably is why.

Hope they crash with that Ford junk! Seems like only the Penske teams are having any luck with Ford!

How is everyone liking the new aero package this year for the Cup cars? I think the racing is better, as a whole, and putting more driver control in play is always a good thing.

As a casual fan I have to say the racing has been sleep inducing for the most part this year. I also think Toyotas dominance needs to be put in check by Nascar if they understand what's best for them, they seem to not mind doing it to the other makes to even things out from time to time.

Hopefully Hyundai gets involved soon so that NASCAR can get some Japan vs Korea action.

Old Post, but hadn't seen this thread.

SHR is getting engines from Roush-Yates, the same supplier Penske and 99% of the Ford teams use. The bodies and chassis are all SHR in-house stuff. I'd expect a little bit of a learning curve in their first year with the Blue Oval, but they'll be back to competing for wins and championships before long.

I had heard a rumor it was Rick who pulled the plug on the SHR deal. Thus sealing SHR's fate to leave Chevrolet, as HMS is the only competitive Chevrolet team (aside from SHR's 4 and 41, which as we know are HMS satellite teams) and engine supplier nowadays. I have no idea if that's true, but it sounds legitimate to me. The 4 team has been spanking all the HMS teams the last couple of years.

Now that that's taken care of

Good race today. Not a huge fan of the 20 or JGR in general, but that was a helluva finish. I was pullin' for Elliot to get up there and challenge the 20.

Big CONGRATS to Tony Stewart on the win today in Sonoma! Though he likely won't win the Chase, it's great to see someone who has given so much to the sport get a well-deserved win in his final season.

Re: The Official NASCAR 2016 Thread

I'm really enjoying this season more than any we've had in recent years. The competition is so close, the new aero package has also helped things enormously. I believe taking even more downforce away will only make the racing even that much better.
