Having all 42 (43?) teams in make a lot of sense. It keeps the race interesting-more crash opportunities. Having just 10 teams would be boring. I might actually fall asleep during a race then

No, a full field, just whoever of the top 10 is in the lowest position in the field is out.

My Chase format

Top 10 drivers over the last 10 races. Lowest position driver each week is eliminated. How cool would that be? You could finish in the top 10 and still get eliminated. Talk about some racing!
I look at what you drive, and then revel in the knowledge that I am indeed following the true path.

Chase as it is rocks.

I'm not sure if I should be insulted or not, LOL

Hey, lets have a point chase that leads to, hmm, ANOTHER points chase! Yay! That's some solid France Jr. thinking there

Re: The official "NASCAR 2009" thread

I think they should go back to only 10 drivers and have a separate point system for the Chase drivers. Leave the rest alone. Say you are in the Chase and finish the race in 27th position, yet you were last of the ten Chasers. You'd get a different amount of points in relation to position of finish among Chasers (i.e.1st-10th), not so much the points for 27th place. Make any sense?

Kind of like this:

1st (among Chasers): 180 pts, 2nd: 160 points, 3rd: 150, 4th: 140, 5th: 130, 6th: 110, 7th: 90, 8th: 80, 9th: 70, 10th: 60

That way a non-Chaser will only have a minimal impact on your points during the playoff. A chase driver would be racing more against other chasers rather than the entire field for points.

A not so wise man once said:

Once in a while, I belch out something decent, given my sub 90 IQ.

Merry Christmas to the "NASCAR Sucks" crew!

Re: The official "NASCAR 2009" thread

Has nothing to do with the Chase, the points or the drivers. Until they put cattle guards and step bumpers on the cars, it will more than likely be a boring race.....

If you want NASCAR to change the chase, E-mail them, don't post on GMi. I highly doubt that any NASCAR official reads GMi.
Go Jimmie!

Re: The official "NASCAR 2009" thread

Hello fellow NASCAR fans! It's always exciting when the new thread starts...

Like some of my posts in the 2008 thread, I don't hold much hope for the 2009 season. Some of my random thoughts...

Season is too long
Geez... Start in Feb and last until Oct was it? Waayyy too long. I like the Feb start since I get to watch auto racing while there is still tons of snow up here. Makes me look forward to summer even more. But, by July, I'm simply NASCAR'd out. I'd rather spend my week-end outside, and I don't even bother to tape the races either. By Sept, forget about it...

Chase
I like the chase the way it is as it helps tighten the field if there was a run away leader.

Broadcasters
Again, here in Canada we get screwed. I like the races on the main networks because I can catch them all, but man... I have the switch the TNT because we are at the mercy of TSN. This might be one of the reasons why my interest in NASCAR begins to drop in June - it's usually at the same time when Fox stops their broadcasts.

It was pure torture last year when trying to watch either the Coke 600 or All-Star race; while TNT would (I assume) carry both the race and commercial in a split screen, TSN would simply go to a commercial break. I got to a point where there were so many commercials that I begain to write doen the times of each break, and then sent an e-mail to TSN the next day (they never replied). Tundra overload....

Too many similar tracks
Along the lines of too many races, there are simply too many similar tracks. Cut down on these or make the same 1.5 mile tri-ovals different by dictating different banking, etc. Also, each track should only hold one race - sorry July race in Daytona.

Races toooooo loooooonngg
How many 500 and 600 mile races to we need? NASCAR wants to cut costs? Why not reduce the number of laps these gas sucking cars race?

Old car vs COT
Enough of it... Drivers, stop your complaining about how much harder it is to drive the COT, or how much hotter it is. You're being paid millions to race a car, so suck it up or find something else to do.

I'm sure there's more, but I'll save it for another day.

If that would happened this year it would of been Kyle Busch.
