Tony would be able to bring a decent sized sponsor for that forth car too. Just thought I throw out that pondering thought of mine from the weekend.
That would be better than being kidnapped by gorgeous harem girls and being forced to keep 20 or 30 of them happy.

Keep throwing things out, Hammer, this is GREAT stuff, even if it never happens.

C'mon Rock, 60+ races and no wins. Jr. has no excuses this year. If you thought he had anything close to sub-par last year, he better come out firing on all cylinders, no pun intended.

Re: The Official "NASCAR 2008" thread

Getting more set for the start of the race season. Just ordered the NASCAR Hot Pass from DirecTV. Watched on on a preview last year and really loved it. Was going to get it for the chase last year, but passed on it for some reason. But now they had it for 20 bucks off if you ordered before the Bud Shootout. Can't wait.

Every driver has bad seasons. Even Sr had a couple bad years before his Daytona win. It happens. He'll have a decent season this year, but I really believe it'll be 2009 before he wins his first championship.

Re: The Official "NASCAR 2008" thread

Just noticed the new thread. Sad to see that the other may not see another post.

Certainly looking forward to the new season. As I'm a big open wheel fan, I'm excited to see how these boys do.

I really think Montoya is going to win at least three races this year. Hopefully he'll have better luck this year and his Dodge will keep him up front.

Villeneuve and Franchitti will also do well. If Toyota ups its game this year, I wouldn't be surprised to see Villeneuve with a few top 10s.

I don't like the fact that the IRL driver (can't even find his name on the NASCAR webiste) got permission to use his team-mate's points in order to guarantee him a spot in the top 35 points. Cheap way to get into the field, and won't get any respect from me.

Hope hometown boy Carpentier does well. Seeing that he finished second in the Busch race in Montreal (where he qualified 1st) should hopefully result in some good road course results.

Welcome back!

Re: the old thread...we sort of took a straw poll, and decided that 100 pages was plenty, so we stopped there.

And our Canadian boys should do well...we hope.

Rolex 24 underway at Daytona, with that beautiful G8 pacing.

Some big names in this one.

Been watching from the start. The G8 really is good looking. I love watching the GT cars. Really the last form of "stock" car racing. Is that the factory engines in them, with some racing tweaks, or a racing engine with the factory block? Either way, fun to see a GXP running next to a BMW 3 Series, next to Mazda (are those running the rotary engine) next to a Mustang. Very cool.

Bad day at the office for a few good drivers testing in Vegas. I guess Tony was trying to be like Jr last year when his tire came off. Glad nobody got hurt, but what a circus!!

Re: The Official "NASCAR 2008" thread

Seven-time Daytona 500 Champion Richard Petty, who's father Lee won the inaugural Daytona 500 in 1959, will serve as honorary starter for the historic 50th running of the Daytona 500 on Sunday, Feb. 17.

Petty will drop the green flag at Daytona International Speedway to get the historic event underway at 3:30 p.m. ET on FOX.

"We are so honored and proud to have Richard Petty drop the green flag to get the most anticipated event in racing history underway," Speedway president Robin Braig said. "Richard and the Daytona 500 are synonymous with NASCAR's biggest, richest and most prestigious race and we're thrilled to have him get the 50th spectacle underway."

Over the course of 32 years driving on the Cup circuit, along with his record seven Daytona 500 wins, "The King" has a record 200 victories; won seven Cup championships; recorded 27 wins in 1967; was named the circuit's "Most Popular Driver" nine times and was the Series rookie of the year in 1959.

Re: The Official "NASCAR 2008" thread

Robby Gordon goes to Dodges in 2008 with technical and engineering help from Gillette - Evernham Motorsports. I hope this helps this single-car team compete a bit better. At least he's out of Fords. I know many don't like Robby, but having met him several times, I found him to be a genuine person with a great sense of humor and personality. His driving can be a little erratic at times, but given the equipment, he can drive the hell out of anything. He's one of only a few drivers who are truly a "racer", not a "driver". Reminds me a little of Stewart and Earnhardt, Sr.

Re: The Official "NASCAR 2008" thread

I disgree Shotgun. Granted, I have never met Robby. Everytime he wrecks he is the first to come on the air and cry about it. I HATE that about a driver. You qualify in the rear- expect to get into it with other drivers! I may be way off, but he seems like a big baby.
