Amen to that. It must take tremedous concentration and stamina to drive side by side within centimeters at breakneck speed, hoping the guy behind, beside, and in front of you doesn't make a mistake.

Hmm..come to think of it, isn't that just what happens on the Laurentian Autoroute just north of Boul. Metropolitain weekday afternoons? The difference would be that those that cause the big wreck on 'ol 15 have Ontario licence plates instead of yellow rear bumpers.

Apologies to the Ontario posters. j/k.

You know... Other drivers get upset with me when I try to bump-draft them... They just don't understand. (sorry for straying off topic)

NO NO NO, I ( and so should you) wish the manufacturers would go back to using RWD 2 door big v8 cars like they did 20-50 years ago. That would be interesting

But we're in back to the '80s mode here. GM does not build a RWD V8 Coupe (I know, I know, GTO) nor does Ford (I know, Mustang...the cars are different classes) and neither does DCX.

Maybe Mustangs, GTOs, and a 2 door Charger (?) in another racing series would work.

Re: The Official "NASCAR Sucks" thread

Qualifying at Texas saw 3 Dodges and 2 Fords in the top 5 Friday. There were three Chevrolets in the top 10, with the other 7 spots going to 3 Fords and 4 Dodges.

Keys to Texas: Fuel mileage. Dodges go a tad less on a tank of Sunoco than the Chevs and Fords do. Track: Texas has an uneven exit from turn 4, and 2 actual turns in the trioval, rather than the normal sweeping arc. Trouble on the front straightaway? Speed: Texas arguably is one of the fastest tracks on the circuit. Speeds of over 200 on the trioval are common, and turns 3 and 4 can see 180+. Could be some wrecking going on early.

Got a feeling about Kasey Kahne Sunday. (No, I don't have him in the pool. Got ...sigh...Hermie Sadler) Just to be on the safe side, since nobody I bet on ever wins anything, I went down to the Casino and put $10 on Jeff Gordon to prevent him from winning.

Who ya got, 327?

Re: The Official "NASCAR Sucks" thread

LOL you actually go bet on them at a casino. Dam n Our nearest one is about 100 miles away.
Id like to see harvick win , but I think he had some troubles and finished 35 place last weekend. Id really like to see Eardnardt Jr win his first for the season , I see hes gonna start 11th but that might not gonna happen.

OOOO I just saw that Rusty Wallace is starting sixth, He just might pull it off!

Re: The Official "NASCAR Sucks" thread

I'm not afraid to admit it. I'm a Jeff Gordon fan. Have been since 1994. Jimmie Johnson made a mistake a couple weeks ago, but if you think it was intentional you apparently either just hate the guy or you haven't watched much racing. He drove into the corner too hard, he admitted that and sought out Jeff Burton after the race. That same thing happens time after time at short tracks. I assume you guys also think Jeff Gordon intentionally put the 97 in the wall last week. Gordon had position and Kurt just came down on him. Gordon sustained quite a bit of damage to the right front of his car. It's just short track racing.

As for the '80's deal. The Monte Carlo was rear wheel drive and V8 powered until 1987. Buick raced the Regal, Pontiac the Grand Prix and Oldsmobile the Cutlass Supreme. I wish I'd have been watching then. I've read quite a few books on the history of the sport and I'd love to have watched guys like Tim Richmond, Neil Bonnett, Darryl Waltrip (in his prime), Davey Allison.... the list goes on.

I understand why people do not like the sport, but I don't understand the constant bashing of NASCAR and those who are fans of it.

I think they should get the other manufacturers to come back, Buick and pontiac. Maybe mercury and or Lincoln too. Add in a little more variety besides Ford Chevy and Dodge

I wish I knew why this idea makes my skin crawl, but it just does. Don't know if I could watch that, even though the manufacturer isn't super important to me. Important to be sure, but then one mentions Toyota, and I want to see an all Toyota wreck. Did I mention that I hate wrecks?

On the other hand, there would be somebody to cheer against. the Craftsman Truck races are great because you can see a different driver wipe out Darrell Waltrip's Toyota Tundra every race.

That's cool.

Sure wish we could see that here. ESPN Classic Canada says "nyet."

You are a very, very brave man.

Gotta give credit where credit is due. Nobody, but nobody, elicits more feelings from the fans (pro or con) than Jeff Gordon.

As for JJ, The jury is still out IMHO. If he stays clean for a while, then I'll believe that he's a gentleman and made an honest mistake.

BRMike, welcome to "NASCAR sucks". Great to have you.

We'll find out tomorrow about that. And if he does something and gets away with it then, Yes Hendricks is getting special treatment
