Re: The Official "NASCAR Sucks" thread
Well since you said we can post how it sucks....
What's so interesting about going around in circles? I can watch a dog do that chasing their tail Big cars with big V8s powering around a circle controlled environment with a bunch of rednecks cheering...what an exciting way to spend your saturday! I am more of a fan of Rally...very intresting, never the same, and people can fall off cliffs, turn over, or wreck, plus somthing about a modified economy car tearing up the off road makes it that much cooler Chevy should put a cobalt in there. Too bad it isn't really popular here in America, people are missing out.JWRC and WRC Kick A**!!!!!

Re: The Official "NASCAR Sucks" thread
Of course I said you can say that it sucks....I did not say that I would not refute any post that I felt like responding to. I feel that eveyone is entitled to an opinion. Fair?
I enjoy all sorts of motorsports, not just one. What amazes me is how passionate, then closed minded some people get, regarding their favourite racing series (SCCA, F1, IRL CART whatever). I respect your right to say that you like Rallying. What I don't understand is somebody who trashes a series, when they've never been to/seen an entire race. I've never been to an Indy race; I still think it must be good racing, even though they get along without me. I enjoy rallying, and used to rally myself way back when. I only watch Rallying on TV now unfortunately, as there are no races that I know of around here. (Could be wrong though) Luckily, SPEED still carries some of the Euro Rallying. |

I also noticed that the current "Golden Boy", Dale Earnhardt Jr., is getting just a little less screen time these last couple of races. I wonder if that's because he isn't (yet) in the top 10 in the Chase for the Nextel Cup, or have the press picked a new Golden Boy, say...Jimmie Johnson? |

well whats so interesting about RALLY? They still wreck in nascar. It really is never the same. Only well they race mostly ovaled tracks and turn one way. nascar does have road races btw. The rules have been changed a lot. It has been done that there are 5 cars across on the track. Its possible to have 4-5 leaders at once. Lots of action when that happens. And well What happened this last sunday that mariner described. I watched it. And well i wouldnt exactly call that boring! ![]()

Re: The Official "NASCAR Sucks" thread
I think the reason rally and some venues of road racing are more appealing to some is that you can see yourself doing something like that in a modified street car, while NASCAR and IRL are about as similar to real street cars as Go Karts.
Yeah, another reason to dislike NASCAR are these guys (unless you're one of 'em!): ![]() Last edited by gacSTclass : 04-14-2005 at 11:45 AM. |

Re: The Official "NASCAR Sucks" thread
Since this is the "NASACAR Sucks Thread":
NASCAR SUCKS!!! NASCAR SUCKS!!! NASCAR SUCKS!!! Ok, I'm done. Honestly, I can't see how race fans can say that NASCAR really does suck. Given the right track (Daytone, Talledega - sorry if I spelt it wrong), you can witness three/four abreast racing, with all 40 race cars bunch up within 15-20 seconds from 1st to last. What other series has racing THAT close? Sure, there are tracks in NASCAR that are sleepers (Pocono), but the short tracks provide some good wheel-to-wheel action as well. Sure, the crashed aren't spectacular, but nothing like seeing the middle finger being waved at competitors going down the frontstretch! So what if the cars don't resemble what's sold. We can't continue to live in the past and complain that this is what it should be. |

I love Richmond, Martinsville and Bristol, and to a lesser extent, the mile and a half "cookie cutter" tracks like Texas, Fontana, Michigan, etc. The road courses are a blast to watch, as it's a whole different set of skills required. Pocono is cool in its own way, I guess. Doesn't do much for me either. This week, Texas has some interesting challenges. You exit Turn 4 at 160+, work up to 195 through a sharp turn tri oval, followed by a virtual dive into Turn 1 after the start/finsh. There might be a wreck or two, if anyone takes the time to watch this one. Hope there a are a few less caution flags on Sunday. Kasey Kahne, Brian Vickers, please behave. ![]() Quote:
It's the same with racing. Different brands, and different people to enjoy those brands. NASCAR is the biggest right now, but who knows what will happen in the future?

Re: The Official "NASCAR Sucks" thread
I really don't like Fontana and Michigan. The cars normally get too far apart from one another, and races often end up like watching CART (CHAMP, or whatever they're called this year) or F1. Not much racing there.
Bristol, Martinsville - the short one mile tracks are fun to watch. Lots of passing and banging... As for Daytona and Talladega, I don't like the "big one" that occurs, since they take out too many cars, and result in long yellows, but I am truley impressed when the drivers can race three wide, 10 rows deep, lap after lap after lap. |
