Nascar or Open Wheel?
Growing up, I loved to watch open wheel racing...however NASCAR has grown on me lately because of it's little subplots. It's okay, but I am not gonna get a sticker of a little kid peeing on something or anything.

NASCAR. No Peeing on anything so far, but I wouldn't mind a BC Lions Calvin peeing on a Toronto Argonaut. Xmas maybe.

Re: Nascar or Open Wheel?
I love any kind of racing. Nascar I think is my favorit but I've started watching SCCA races lately. Open wheel is alright to.

NASCAR is it. You don't have the same relationship you do with open wheel drivers than with NASCAR drivers. You can relate to them. It is almost like open wheels drivers are more "sophisticated." That does really fly with us rednecks.
NASCAR is the poor man's racing. GIT 'R DONE!!! |

Re: Nascar or Open Wheel?
Love open-wheel racing, especially CART when I can find the races. Other than that I USED to watch the Speedvision World Challenge but ever since FOX turned it into SPEED I been stuck with sorry*** BGN and local dirt track garbage. The highlight of my year was watching the 24 Houres Du Mans uncut, but FOX killed that too.

Re: Nascar or Open Wheel?
I used to favour open-wheel racing (F1, CART), however I've moved more towards NASCAR of late. The CART/IRL split is hurting open wheel in NA. The talented drivers are now spread too thin across the two series. I don't even watch the races unless I happen to come across them by accident.
As for F1, too boring given the only passing taking place is in the pits. I have gone to F1 races (since I live in Montreal), and I must admit, being there makes a BIG difference (atmosphere, noise, etc). NASCAR is good, especially at Talledega and Daytona. Nothing like watching cars heading into the corners @200mph three wide... NASCAR just has to stop changing the rules twenty times a season and babysitting the drivers. So they swear - BIG DEAL. Kids here worse at the school playground. |

Re: Nascar or Open Wheel?
As long as its loud and fast I really don't care, but with all the onboard computers used in open wheel the racer doesn't seem to be much of a factor anymore. Nascar still requires a good driver, not just good equipment. I'm sure someone will disagree, but its just the way the sport appears to me.
