I'm going racing.....hopefully......

Ok, the time has come. I'm knee deep in 4xing, with two trucks. But....I miss my sporty car days. I am also interested in competitve racing, amateur form of course. So, what should I do? I am working with ideas in my head. Should I drag race? Should I road race? I'd like to hit some twisties, but have a special place in my heart for the 1320. Where can I get the most bang for my buck, should I get an old nova, tub it and run a nice stroker, or should I get a miata, or corvair, or something along those lines and go road racing? What can I do for less than 10K on initial investment. I have a trailer and truck to tow, and working knowledge about most car building and repair. I live in so cal but not sure what is local for anything but oval track, outlaw, and drag racing. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, oh and keeping me in a chevy(gm) is my main goal.......

Re: I'm going racing.....hopefully......

this is just an idea,.... its something Ive been thinking about for a while now.

I would buy a '98 V6 camaro thats been drivin till the wheels were ready to fall off. You could pick one up for under 5K. Strip it, tub it, build a bad a$$ small/big block and go tear up the strip.

kinda take this:

and make it this: (image wise)!!
