Grand Am Koni Challenge Road Racing Round 2 Begins
Thursday, April 12, 2007
Teams Prepare for Round 2 of Koni Challenge Series by Pete Evanow HEBRON, Ky. -- Round 2 of the 2007 KONI Challenge Series, sanctioned by the Grand-Am Road Racing Association, is slated for April 13-15 at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Following the debut of the season at Daytona, it is anticipated that a field of more than 80 cars will compete in the Grand Sport (GS) and Street Tuner (ST) classes. Celebrating its 150th Anniversary this year, KONI North America, the world leader in shock absorber technology, became the title sponsor of the KONI Challenge Series in 2007. The response to KONI’s support of the series has been overwhelming from both racers and spectators alike. “With more than 100 cars competing at Daytona for the season-opener, we were quite pleased with the turn-out of teams,” said Jim Vance, KONI North America General Manager. “One of the goals of Grand-Am is to keep costs low to participate, so with that being a constant, coupled with strong pursue money, I think we’ll continue to see strong fields throughout the season, which will make for very competitive classes and exciting racing for both fans and drivers.” ![]()
