even more rule violations in NASCAR
Although this time Nascar says it doesn't appear intentional, and it likely didn't help his car....the Chevrolet of Jeff Gordon to the back of the field to start. They got a Toyota, 2 Dodge's and a Ford earlier in the week...now it's Chevy's turn.....
Gordon's winning car fails Duels inspection Will start 42nd in Daytona 500 because of infraction The No. 24 car Jeff Gordon used to win the second twin 150-mile qualifying race was found to be an inch too low, according to NASCAR officials. Gordon retains credit for the victory, but as a penalty will start Sunday's Daytona 500 in 42nd position. Robin Pemberton, NASCAR's vice president for competition, said bolts had been misaligned on the rear shocks installed prior to Thursday's race. Once the race started, the load on those misaligned bolts caused the car's quarterpanels, but not the roof, to be lower than the minimum allowed height. "Honestly, I think it's something a mechanic made a mistake on as he bolted the shocks on during the installation process," Pemberton said. Pemberton added that NASCAR was convinced the infraction was unintentional, and that no fines or point deductions would be warranted. Gordon, a three-time winner of the Daytona 500, will vacate his fourth-place starting position and instead roll off 42nd. Dale Jarrett, who got into the race on a past champion's provisional, will start last. full link here: http://www.nascar.com/2007/news/head...ion/index.html Last edited by mjd1001 : 02-16-2007 at 12:54 AM. |

Re: even more rule violations in Nascar
just wai till the day or two after the 500 they usually hand out a bunch of penalties, but at that point its usually small stuff like "unapproved jacking bolts"

Brian France is single handedly destroying NASCAR...
Big Bill he ain't.... The good news TV ratings and attendence were both down last year... That should hopefully help get NASCAR back on track....

Re: even more rule violations in Nascar
I don't care anymore. I loved NASCAR when it was about cars you could actually buy at the showroom or buy something close to it and add the mods yourself. These million dollar cars that try and pass themselves off as Monte Carlos give me gas. Fireball Roberts and Richard Petty where are you??????????
