Rumor Mill: Spied! 2008 Cadillac CTS?

Rumor Mill: 2008 Cadillac CTS Rendering
October 20th, 2005

Credit to: JBlair from CSS for his great artwork

After much angst, here is an wholly accurate artists depiction of the 2008 Cadillac CTS. Codenamed GMX322, the 2008 CTS will be slightly larger than the current model and will feature more taut, European styling. Some styling aspects have been taken from the 2004 Cadillac SIXTEEN concept, such as the Egg-Crate Over Mesh grille and the vertically stacked headlamps. Although insiders doubt that the wheels and foglamps are production units, they are extremely sure that the grille and headlamps and the rest of the body are production units, or extremely close to production.

In regards to the interior, insiders tell GMI that the design will be more organic and natural, a few miles away from the computer-inspired dash of the current CTS. There will be added room in the ****************pit and materials will continue to improve.

To add some spice to the lineup, the CTS-V model will feature a 500HP LS7 V8 powering the rear wheels. Production should start one year after the CTS is launched.

The 2008 CTS is rumored to debut at the 2006 New York International Autoshow and GMI will be sure to cover it for you. As always stay connected to GMInsidenews.com for all your latest news and rumors regarding the word's #1 Automotive Manufacturer.

O my God that is awesome!!! I love the new headlights and grille. Very sixteen! The A&S design still looks good. Very crisp but not so crisp as to get bad reviews. The 500hp V series sounds good. If they're putting 500 in the CTS-V imagine what the STS and XLR will get in a few years!! Can't wait to see that in the SCCA. Hope the other engines are just as good. Maybe a Northstar will fit now. I also hope the interior is on par. Way to go Caddy!!

Hummm..it looks basically unchanged except for the ugly headlamps. Is this supposed to be an all new design?

bigger than the current model? I thought it was supposed to shrink in length by an inch or two?

Yeah that's what I thought too. At NYIAS I heard Mark LaNeve said it would shrink 3" but, others are saying it's the opposite.

Re: Rumor Mill: Spied! 2008 Cadillac CTS

Ahhhh...it's aight. I was looking for something more radical..similar to what Jag is doing in the near future. The grille is cool, but there is something about the door panels and the front end that just doesn't match up. Perhaps they'll do some tweaking in the future. Or maybe it'll look better in person.

Re: Rumor Mill: Spied! 2008 Cadillac CTS

The CTS has to grow a few inches to make room for the BLS. I think that is a step in the right direction because the STS is too small make the CTS more midsize and have the BLS as the baby. If the rumored ULS is still in the works then this flushes out the size scale nicely.

But back to the point at hand, I LIKE IT! 500hp V series? Im not so sure. Maybe a limited edition but then why get an STS V for more money and less performance?

Re: Rumor Mill: Spied! 2008 Cadillac CTS

The CTS really should get smaller. It is supposed to be the 3 series fighter, but it is just too big and heavy to really compete with a car that small. The CTS should, IMO slot between the 3 and 5 series (right now its basically the same size as the 5 series) because a 3 series car has NO rear leg room, which makes the car an impractical status symbol only. Then the STS can slot right between the 5 and 7 series (which it basically does now), and CAddy can save some money by designing only two different sedans (or it could do the ULS, but I don't really care about $100K plus cars because I'd never buy one, anyway).

Re: Rumor Mill: Spied! 2008 Cadillac CTS

This is still a computer generated image, this is not (I believe) a photo of an actuall 2008 CTS, please, lets not start the same thing that happened when we saw the Presidential Limousine in December, lets wait till we see an actuall real production car.

For the record though........I like it!
