I think the L99 V8 would be the perfect motor for the G8. Just add a faux carbon fiber panel on the center stack like the Corvette and the G8 GT would rock. Change the front end to mimic the camaro is enough of an exterior change..IMO

I know that...I didnt post the name Super because that would sound like an arogant name for a car...a lot to live up to, kinda like the name Best....and they havnet been used in decades so the performance class these names filled has been washed away...now they are on a clean slate, so to say.
Agreed...GM please dont taint the Corvette name with a four door...remember the failed Vette wagon???Originally Posted by landjet06

The V6 G8 was also the only version of the car to get "less than enthusiastic" reviews. It was outperformed by V6 Camrys and Accords, while getting worse fuel economy. Yes, I know it's a bigger car, but most consumers don't. Now, put the drivetrain of the V6 Camaro into its Zeta sister, as was planned for the 2010 model, and everything changes.
Sell the new "Chevelle," as it should be named with the DI 3.6 as its base, and LS3/L99 engines as the V8's, like the Camaro, and you can build it in Oshawa as well. Import the V8 versions from Australia if the contract truly calls for more imports from Down Under. The V8's would be hot initially, but the DI 3.6 should prove to be the big seller over the long run, and could be built in Oshawa... Right alongside the Camaro.
Keep building the current Impala for fleet sevice only. GM has announced that it wants to also grow its market share. They can get some of that fleet market that they've given up over the last year or so without hurting any of their mainstream vehicles' resale value. Keep building Cobalts as well, even after the Cruze's introduction, for the same reason. Though, I remember reading something that they were going to keep building the Cobalt for a short while after the Cruze's arrival... Much like Pontiac kept building Grand Ams after the arrival of the G6. Hell, I would keep building G6's too(for fleet use). They just introduced the MCE for the car, they must have extra parts sitting around!![]()

I just hope it comes as a Chevy... But not a Vette
Well, the Super and Special were the least interesting Buicks in back in the mid-fifties... (The Century was the more luxurious, high performance version of the Special). And the Super, compared to the Special, was more like a "super capacity" washer. It was built on the bigger Roadmaster body but, like the Special it had cheaper trim, and sometimes, less powerful engine than the Roadmaster.
In the sixties, the Special was reintroduced as a compact...
The only Buick powered vehicle with the Super name that I have some interest in is not even a GM vehicle! It's the 1968-69 Jeep Super Wagoneer. This was the first Luxury SUV and it had Buick engine and Buick transmission (a Buick Turbo 400 transmission with Nailhead bolt pattern which required an adapter installed at the Jeep factory to match with the Buick 350 V8 under the hood!).

I vote for Chevelle as well!
Hey GM, I'll make you a deal. If you make another four-door Zeta and market it as a Chevy and offer a V8 version equivalent to the G8 GT with a six-speed manual transmission, I promise I'll trade in my 2009.5 G8 GT automatic for a new one. Just keep that MSRP down in the mid to low 30's and stay away from those gas-guzzler taxes.
