Re: Rumor: Caddy Volt??

Oh my...I had totally forgotten about that truly bad and meaningless "The Power of &" !!! Ties with "G-8 is car" in sheer badness.

Some times I truly wonder if there is a group of GM Marketing executives who have

"Not your father's Oldsmobile"

On some big poster in some boardroom somewhere... They sit around that mahogany table and stare at that poster while TRYING to come up with a marketing campaign that is worse... IMO they haven't yet... But they have come damn close... several times...

Stop the presses! The turnaround has begun... we are back trading in the 12's
Never mind back in the 10's, 9's, 8's, 7's, 6's, 5's, 4's, 3's $2's, 1.70 Anyone Surprised?

I bet they are the boneheads responsible for the Bellafonte siblings wailing "TRO-FEY-HEY-HEY-YOH!" back when Olds sold the Trofeo version of the Toronado.....that one used to make me cringe vs. filling me with lust for a Trofeo...yikes that one was BAD....I bet to this day both, AND their Dad, are embarassed that they said "yes" to the idea.

An electric Caddy. It seems perfect - absolute silence, massive torque. And the Volt's already got a wide stance, which will provide tons of Cadillac grade elbow room. And it has a long wheelbase for its length, which should make for a nice ride. All of these ingredients should make for a great Caddy.

And I bet you could charge a cover-the-cost price for it as a Caddy. And the poster above has an (almost) great idea: name it the Ampere. Sounds elegant, means electric. Perfect.

The extra cost of a Cadillac variant would be minimal within the context of the Volt program. Just differentiate it adequately.

A further thought: the Volt's a halo. If you can spread the light from the halo wider, so much the better.
NO!!It Can't be a rebadged Volt. It must be a luxury vehicle with an E-flex drivetrain. It must scream "Caddilac", not "rebadged Chevy". Honestly, would you want to pay luxury prices for a chevy? The Volt will be a FANTASTIC car , but it ain't a Caddy .
