Re: Is The Pontiac Firebird To Return?

come on gimme a break, the camaro and the firebird/trans am had sales beast sales, and the gto wasnt even popular in video games. If they were smart for get about the gto, make a G8 GT-C (Coupe) they aleready want 2 try and make a truck and a wagon out of it, they might as well throw a coupe or muscle car in the mix 2. but if they do decide they want to make the GTO just atleast make it better than the previous genneration. Hell, while they're at it just bring back the SSR and Gm will own (GTO+SSR= dont bring em back)

Re: Is The Pontiac Firebird To Return?

The last GTO was a decent car and a good value but not "unique enough" in appearance for it's market.
Dan Gurney even drove one for awhile as his personal car a couple of years ago. If it was good enough for him then it's good enough for anyone. Plus the GTO-R was very successful in the IMSA World Challenge Series. It was so good in fact that they restricted the power to below the street cars....it still managed to win it's class championship mainly against Porsche and BMW !! This was a tube frame car but still a major accomplishment. Don't be so dismissive of this car because it didn't meet sales targets.

man it is nothing like that.
i mean both have features like i envy for , both are not compareable.
One has toughness but one has speed.
thus you see , aint gonna compare them , camaros aint got no better image than the other , both are equal.

Welcome to the new millennium...
I think you left the lights on in your Delorean.

Now, just slowly back away from the Miami Vice sound track and no-one gets hurt.

Did'nt Bill Mitchell style a Trans Am (or at least Firebird) 2 door station wagon in the 70's on the 2nd gen platform.

Damn right! I just test drove one (06) a while back and it was an amazing car to drive. They are now legal up here and I am on the hunt, plus with current gas prices the prices are really low, it a screaming deal for a 400/400 car with IRS, loaded. As usual the guys who talk a lot and want stripes and spoilers and batmobile stying are the guys who will never buy one anyway.

i would also say besides sisor doors and gullwing door options, i would add a Knight Rider option and neon lighting and black lights to the car. And lets not forget the hydrolics to bounce that car up and down. I would also add a new option for a v100 engine with 100,000 horsepower and still gets 100mpg as it uses water to power it.

Re: Is The Pontiac Firebird To Return?

The last GTO looked like a Sunbird on steroids. Too bad all the great technology and powerplant was wasted on something that looked like Oprah Winfrey would give to members of her studio audience.

Re: Is The Pontiac Firebird To Return?

i BELIVE GTO return is more probable..

Camaro will sell well , and it's quite sofisticated (in muscle cars term)...
so there no room for FB,
/.but if camaro will sell very well....maybe GM will put on sale restylized Camaro - Firrebird !.....and maybe design will be enough to catch clients it taht niche

byt retro- GTO !!
thats a great idea,
the sholud start midsize-muscle segment at last...
Chevy rahter wont start with Chevelle, .(..modern-Monte carlo SS be could look and perform well....)
there's chance that Dodge will meke an order with Charger, now it's a joke - sedan with great name on the body

find my thread: Modern Muscle debate
give me some your sugestions, how this era will ewolve...Firebird 2018 , last modern muscle car?
