Regardless of whether you love or hate the new face of the Malibu, it certainly stands out. Between that and the unique lines on the sides the car will grab some attention. I'm glad GM went a little bolder with this design.
I saw the car in NYC and thought the front end really did look much better in person. Here's hoping some of you may feel the same once you see them on the road.
I like the bowtie moved up as well. I bet it wouldn't be too hard to do.
I once swapped the chitzy plastic grille emblem on the wife's old STS for a metal one off a DeVille Concours. Made a big difference.
No. Hopefully people's will to work for a nicer product, and not always have stuff given to them, won't screw them outta being able to buy whatever they want.
Sorry, no. I'll give you the Impala taillights but I had a Regal and this isn't even close. Other than a 6 side window design (which is significantly different), nothing else in common. Specs completely different. "Ever so slightly different nose". SERIOUSLY? You might want to put pics of the 2 side by side and re-evaluate.
Can you say "I need an eye exam?"
The face is starting to grow on me but I think they could have done better. The rear looks too much like a Hyundia as does the Impala and the 4 cyl only would be a deal breaker. But I do love the side sculpting, the greenhouse and the interior.
Look.. I for one WANT GM to test the hell out of this car until the very last minute. They can release it for sales on Dec 31 for all I care. Its too important. More than likely they are going around picking up the line-backers in full gear and having them ride in the back-seat to make sure this time... there is nothing to bitch about. I kno I kno.. U will find SOMETHING tho.
BTW.. U use that smiley so much your real-life head must be scratched raw. No one is THAT confused.. all the time without a lifelong script of Quetiapine.
Thanks!
Rear leg room still trailing competition. 38.1" vs 38.3 for Fusion, 38.5 for Accord and 38.9 for Camry.
All kinds of tech and safety nannies but curiously, no rainsense...AND Universal Remote door opener (Homelink) available only with a sunroof which includes a fixed skylite. WHAT?
Nice find. Good looking car in spite of what the chronic bitchers say. I still want to see the scalloped out sides in person before final judgment though. Jaymer thought it would be cool, so oh well.
This might be an improvement in styling over the current model Malibu. However, does anyone here think that this latest Half As**d effort is anywhere close to a vehicle that can begin to challenge the perennial champions in the midsized car market?
Class leading fuel economy. Latest tech. Hybrid system from the Volt. Decent styling. Competitive turbo power. Get the pricing right and it will move up a few places on the sales chart.
I could not agree less. The current Malibu has one of the best sedan bodies of the last few years. It's distinctive and sporty, but also very clean and graceful. It's too bad they shortened the wheelbase so much.
I hate to give a verdict without seeing one in the flesh, but the new one looks like all the other pinched-blob, busy-front sedans out there.
I am with you! I guess I don't know the the market place dynamics here! The new Lexus front grill is a total ugly grill but a conservative acquaintance who drives S and 7s brought the 2016 LS! So I am lost as to my taste vs. society!?... LOL!
I like the front end. I don't like side profile. An its an American car company with outa the park comparisons against comp on other Chevy models. 2cents
Hope Chevrolet offers the current Impala V6 engine in the new Malibu! Otherwise, will not compete against the Honda Accord Touring or the Toyota Camry XLS V6!
I am surprised as well, although the spindle grill looks better on some models than others.
Give the regular Caddy's the V Series look minus the trunk and spoiler, they look 10 times better than the regular grills, IMO
I can't make friends with that grill. It's a huge mistake on an otherwise clean design.....three different grills with three different shapes and three different designs. Just strange.
How can they do well on the new Cruze and Impala and screw the Malibu up so badly?
It is a conspiracy; Ford and the Banksters got together and made GM do it!
I saw another one in the parking lot, from the side very Impala-like, with a smaller/skinnier rear.
Still can't get over the front Bow-Tie placement.
