Re: Illustrated: 2011 Chevrolet Corvette C7
This Corvette concept that will be in the Transformer 2 movie I am not necessarily buying as the next Corvette. It could be a design that is for the movie only though possibly based on the current Corvette.
I hope I can safely assume that some of you here that have seen the movie on DVD from the Special Edition version which contains a 2nd DVD of basically behind the scenes/Making of the Transformers movie. The Hummer H2 "ambulance" that we know as Rachet was built by the vehicle production staff since there weren't any real Hummer H2 ambulances, thus they built one themselves which the "box" behind the driver/passenger cab area is just that, a box, fitted/added onto the existing rear end of the H2. This here is my point w/the "Corvette" concept seen on the set of the 2nd Transformer movie. That it isn't a real C7 Corvette concept at all. But that its just the current Corvette w/additon bodywork fitted/added to the car. Until GM itself in one way or another admits that this "Corvette" in the film IS the real deal C7 concept, I have no choice but to believe that this car is not a real Corvette. I think that alot of people(journalist included) are jumping to conclusions.

Re: Illustrated: 2011 Chevrolet Corvette C7
I think it would be cool if this "Corvette" is the new body/car of Jazz. IMDB.com has an actor listed as rumored to reprise his role as the voice of Jazz.
I know some of you may be thinking Jazz died in the 1st movie, True, But there was still a little bit of AllSpark left that Optimus Prime plucked from Megatron's chest. ![]()

They have got to be kidding. This thing is HIDEOUS!!! Gross. GM/Chevy can do much better. I forget the exact name, but there was a gorgeous purple roadster Corvette concept a number of years ago. Something like that would be nice. Also, if they are going to do a mid-engine Corvette, the Corvette Indy was stunning. This thing looks like the unwanted child of a Nissan GT-R. Ugly! Ugly! Ugly!

Re: Illustrated: 2011 Chevrolet Corvette C7
It looks good, but why do a GT-R rippoff? Corvette has too much history and heritage for that. Someone told the design team they wanted a corvette/GT-R thats obvious, but we want a corvette/corvette!
Round over the top of the windows like a real car, dump the cheesy camaro grill insert, and loose the weird front end vents. Its clear they know they need to do something different and not just another evolution, but its obvious they don't have a clue what to do. Fire the designer, he's obviously a GT-R fan and doesn't deserve to be on the team. On the bright side-Going to be easy to do an evoq off of this. Very angle-ie and arts and science-ie. : / |

Re: Illustrated: 2011 Chevrolet Corvette C7
This is just a car created for the newest "Transformers" movie. That's all. It is not a future Corvette. There's been a lot of discussion of it on the various Corvette forums, and more than a few "Corvette insiders" (including some pretty high up in the food chain) post from time to time, and all agree that this vehicle has little or nothing to do with any production Corvettes. In my own opinion, that's a good thing because it is ugly as sin.

I agree with the many that this isn't really the next Corvette. It kinda looks like a hybrid-Audi R8 ate it and didn't finish at the nose...

Re: Illustrated: 2011 Chevrolet Corvette C7
I don't think Team Corvette can 'up the ante' much more in the performance dept for a while, so an aggressive eye-catching design should be a given.

Re: Illustrated: 2011 Chevrolet Corvette C7
...which almost guarantees that GM will NOT build it, unless they SO water it down as for the design theme to be barely discernible. I'm still grousing over their not building the Riviera concept. I feel that Chevy sales would have been much higher the last several years had they put the Nomads into showrooms instead of the forgetable Cavalier and Cobalt. Can't wow the public with cool concepts then build them, right? I think that is a main tenet of "Wagoner Car Design and Marketing 101" !

Re: Illustrated: 2011 Chevrolet Corvette C7
I dn't care so much what the next Corvette looks like. I just want them to engineer about 300 or 400 lbs out of it, give it a slightly smaller engine, and watch as the world's motoring press falls to its knees giving praise.
