I like it. The roof line above the window is nice, sort of Skyline/Saab, and the front end looks good. It sort of looks Japanese, which styling I don't normally like, but I like this.

It's too "chunky", it has no "flow" to it.
If you took a Cadillac XR, and mated it with a Pontiac Aztek, this is what you'd get.

Re: Illustrated: 2011 Chevrolet Corvette C7
I'm not getting the nose within a nose idea. It is not only bad design, it is bad aerodynamics, as well. Otherwise, I like the fender lines that rise and fall like the '68 Stingray, the roof, if looked at a certain way, also echoes that car, as does the circular lights in the grille , and its trim.

Re: Illustrated: 2011 Chevrolet Corvette C7
I'm more interested in what will power it and what GM's philosphy will be:
Will it be a big-power, big cube V8 torque-monster with moderate weight (3100 lbs)? Or, will GM go a totally different route with a either a small DOHC V8 or maybe even a turbo V6 combined with lighter weight? Will it still be front-engine, RWD, or will they go mid-engine. Is AWD a possibility? Even more important, will the car actually show up in 2011, given GM's limited resources and new-found focus on alternative propulsion? To be continued!

Concepts are always over the top, and this is no exception. I am glad GM is going to push the new design a bit.

Re: Illustrated: 2011 Chevrolet Corvette C7
I kinda like what Callaway has done with some recent corvettes. He typically includes an appearance package along with tuning, and I think his appearance packages add a slight European/Italian sophistication to the vette while retaining most of it's American "toughness." I wish GM would take the Vette in that direction. I think some people still consider the Vette to be a little to uncouth or redneck-ish for a $50K+ car.
In the alternative, GM should evolve the XLR into such a car for cadillac. The current XLR is an ugly POS. I'd like to see a lot less chiseled art and science and a lot more Italian influence in that car. For some reason, the art and science look just doesn't seem to translate well to a car with the XLR's proportions, IMO. |

Re: Illustrated: 2011 Chevrolet Corvette C7
I just PRAY that GM continues to build the Vette for people who buy Vettes. In other words, the hippies have ruined every other car in the world with the new CAFE BS. They can have their hemp powered 1.2 liter sub micro cars....But please Lord, let me have at least ONE car that I would actually buy. Just ONE. They don't sell enough Vettes to make any kind of a dent in their overall corporate average, so I have a little hope. But, when that issue of Car and Driver comes out with details of the "New 2013 Corvette with 170hp", I will make sure I buy the last 2012 Corvette.

Wow, that's A LOT of sharp and pointy lines in one design. I think this knife should be placed back in the block before it hurts someone!
