Illustrated: 2011 Chevrolet Corvette C7

As reported over the weekend, an apparent Chevrolet Corvette concept car will appear in the forthcoming “Transformers 2″ movie. Based on the spy photos of the concept on the movie set, our artist has created an illustration of how the show car might influence the next-generation C7 Corvette.

Given the concept’s massive wheels, exaggerated exterior, and extremely low roofline, there’s almost no way the production C7 Corvette will look exactly like it. However, we don’t think GM has created this concept for no reason at all.

With that in mind, we’ve created a speculative illustration of the production C7 based on the concept. It has small LED headlights that create a similar effect to the hideaway lamps of yore, and the overall styling is a fusion of new and old design cues.

It’s too soon to know exactly what the C7 will look like, but we think many of the design cues seen here will make it to production.

OMG.....they gave it the roof line of the GT-R!! Hopefully we'll never see anything like this barge.

I don't car for the roofline either, but must say that's an amazing illustration.

Thanks...looks cool but I like the more aggressive concept better. But in both I like the "nose within a nose" concept, reminds me of a jet intake.

I pray it doesn't look like that. The front is really really ugly.

That thing is hot! And the front end is amazing. It's what makes this design.

I like it, it's pretty agressive, though i think that there are more pressing matters than a C7 right now, the current Corvette sells well, I think that with a few tweaks it could go through 2012-2013 maybe even more before it needs a full redo.

Whoaaa...that's pretty slick. Sweet styling, aggressive looks, all it needs is the engine to back it all up.

Re: Illustrated: 2011 Chevrolet Corvette C7

The roof is Saab/GT-R-esque, and I don't like it. It does remind me of the Stingray generation, but barely. Not sure about the "nose-within-a-nose" either.

C7 may look like the current one, as long as it Front Engined and has an AWD option.

The roof in the "sketch" has a 1968-1977 Corvette look to it.

Re: Illustrated: 2011 Chevrolet Corvette C7

I hope the concept shows up next spring at either the Detroit or New York auto show...the last few Vettes, for my tastes, were so "evolutionary" as to be of little interest to me.
