GM Planning Buick Regal Concept?

Quote:
I have confirmed with two very good sources that GM is planning a Regal Concept. The concept will be a copy of the Chinese Regal. The actual Regal we will be getting will be a refreshed version of the Insignia, built in Oshawa, along with a hybrid, starting late 2011. I have seen the future line-up of the Lucerne, LaCrosse, Regal, and Enclave, and I like what I see. With GM, those plans can possibly change, for the better or the worse. The Concept is likely to debut in the June or July issue of Fortune Magazine, as well as the 2010 LaCrosse.

Re: Exclusive:GM Planning Buick Regal Concept

GM would be smart -- yeah, yeah, I know -- to bring over limited numbers of the Insignia/Regal as is for this fall. Then refresh it when it starts getting built in Oshawa.

A car, priced under the Lacrosse, would be great and one that is winning raves in Europe -- and a 100,000 pre-order list -- is something GM can point to as a winner.

What I fail to understand is if GM had already slated the Aura/Insignia for a build in the States why they just can't start building it here in a few months. The equipment must already be in place.

It's all rather aggravating.

I don't understand it either, the Aura was gonna begin production in just a few months

Any wonder why GM is in the shape they are now? Everything good is always 2 years late.

Re: Exclusive:GM Planning Buick Regal Concept

Why not just introduce the damn thing instead of this "concept this" and "concept that" stuff?

I know the idea is for people to look forward to a new model, but this car has been seen over and over again in the press wearing Opel, Vauxhall and Buick badges. Shouldn't take much more than adding side marker lights/reflectors in order to certify it for the US market... maybe the introduction date has to do with GM not having much money and having to prioritize, but still...

They need a concept? I can already find pictures of the Chinese Regal and German Insignia on google.

Like saying an apple is a copy of an apple.

It's like if Fiat made a "concept" of the 500.

Exactly. It's mind boggling incompetence. You have a factory ready to go. Instead, delay it 2 years. The smart thing would have been to get the Buick badges and grill ready, resource any interior bits that need to say "Buick" and get the car ready to hit the dealerships come fall.

Argh.
