Why not? For every one Hummer I see on the road I see 20 Jeeps. They sell better, simple as that.

Re: GCM - GM/Chrysler to Merge to General Chrysler Motors, to sell Jeep to Internatio

I'm okay with this as long as three conditions occur:
  1. The name of the company is still "General Motors" and those little "GM" badges remain on the cars
  2. GM keeps the Caravan platform and makes a better minivan than Chrysler could
  3. Buick does not die to be replaced by Chrysler

So a business is stupid for making money and selling things that make money. So I guess GM has been smart all these years after all.
Just because you think they are stupid doesent make everyone who buy/makes/sells them stupid. People should be able to buy what ever they want with out people like you calling them idiots

If they lose existing Chrysler engines, I'd hope they would retain the HEMI.

Funny thing was just on the news, survey of americans and their thoughts:

1) Should the govt bail out banks/financial institutions? 60% said NO

2) Should the govt bail out automakers? 60% said NO

3) Should the govt bailout bad mortgage owners? 60% said YES...they're just good people who made bad financial decisions (kinda like the automakers and banks, no???)...

That is the problem in a nutshell, screw everyone else but if it helps yourself or your viewpoint then its fine. This supports the quote above IMHO...people should be able to buy whatever they want AS LONG AS THEY CAN AFFORD IT...and if it doesn't fit your view of the world, oh well.

BTW #'s shown are very general, do not quote them.

The person who made this article was high. This is not happening. The one thing Jeep fans like myself would kill themselves over is for Damlier to get their hands on it again. Also killing off the Patriot would be really stupid.

International Trucks is a division of Navistar. This makes about as much sense as saying that Pontiac is going to buy Jeep.

Re: GCM - GM/Chrysler to Merge to General Chrysler Motors, to sell Jeep to Internatio

Yeah, this would make sense; sell off the crown jewel (Jeep) to international and stick GM with the leftovers (Dodge & Chrysler). GM would get thousands of dealerships, a good truck, a good minivan, a good Challenger and a lot of overhead/dead wood. Meanwhile, GM sells off Hummer and now has no serious off-roader division.

I'd file this one under fiction.
