Four-door Converj? Dropped side windows?
Quote:
http://www.autoblog.com/2009/09/10/g...eveals-future/[/quote] Thanks to PistonsFan for putting together an image of a design model from the new GM ad (see links). But the ad was shot with a wide lens that stretched everything, as can be seen by the ovoid wheels, so I shrank it all back to make the wheels round again and show us the true proportions. I'm going to estimate the wheels are 22inch in size. That sounds about right for a styling studio where they like large wheels. I don't think they would be larger. So... I count the wheelbase as about 4.75 wheels = 105 inches Overall length is 7.9 wheels = 174 inches Height is about 2.6 wheels = 58 inches Chevy Cruze is: Wheelbase = 105.7 inches Length = 178.5 inches Height = 58.2 inches So this car is Delta sized. ![]() So what could GM be putting on Delta with this sleek aero body? Well just maybe it's Cadillac's future version of Volt i.e. a 4-door Converj.... ![]() On the other hand it could just be the next Cruze..... ![]() Taking another look at the original clay image I just thought the clay was unfinished and that's why the side windows were uneven. But what if they were meant to be that way? I personally don't go for it much. But it's a design idea that's shown up elsewhere including at Buick. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by MonaroSS : 09-20-2009 at 09:28 AM. |

Good post. This car really looks great. Everyone thought it was the XTS, but I'm beginning to think otherwise.

Yeah.. from what we've heard, the XTS was much closer in execution to the Sixteen concept then the Converj. This could very well be a four-door Converj or something completely different.

Re: Future 4-door Converj or not?

Re: Future 4-door Converj or not?
Four doors will make the Converj a lot more practical.
ETS? VTS?

Re: Future 4-door Converj or not?
If this is Cadillac's dedicated alternative powertrain sedan (AKA production version of the Converj Concept), then it is light years better looking than the awkward looking beasts (HS 250h or LF-Ch) that Lexus is churning out. I would like to see an entire series (sedan, coupe, and wagon) emerge for Cadillac. I would start with a sedan to test the waters; if it's successful, then I would expand the range with a coupe and wagon.
The Volt is a solid start for GM in the dedicated alternative powertrain vehicle category. If this is an indication of the production Converj, then it appears that GM could be the leader in the luxury segment of this category also. |
