Re: Corvette ZR1

Better than Z07, SS, and Blue Devil to me. Well...maybe it is in close contention with Blue Devil. But, ZR1 is definitely a good name, just hopefully it won't be a flop like the C4 ZR1.

SRT is the most cohesive. Goes across all brands to let you know its fast as hell. Jeep, Chrysler and Dodge all have SRT products and they are fast. They let you know what's going on. Unlike SS, no SS S/C. SS needs to be on all the fastest Chevys, and Pontiac's need to be just fast anyway and Caddy can V, but it needs to be well used so people know.

you read it wrong, if you were getting your information from the newest car and driver page 13 it says that the LS3!! is about 7K and the AMG is 56K which i cannot understand. to comfirm the LS7 is my dream engine so i know its 13K not 7.

You can buy it retail for 15K, and that's excluding the A/C radiator, and just about everything and the dry-lump system. Not exactly cheap...And if AMG makes a engine for 56K, how the hell do they sell any AMG car at a profit? I don't even think the Porsche 911 GT3's engine costs that much to make.

Hmm...... Chevrolet Corvette ZR1. Fits just fine. Sounds great. Can't wait for it! It's going to be a lighting fast beast!

Re: Corvette ZR1

Stingray would have been sweet, but ZR1 is a good name too. Chevy has been flat out abusing SS as of late (TrailBlazer? Malibu Maxx?), so it's good to see that they left it off the 'Vette as well. Keep SS on the Cobalt and the Impala, and leave it at that.

It is used on one Jeep, and now only on one Chrysler.

That's not very cohesive to me. When you have 3 divisions and only 5 performance cars there is a problem

The LS7 is as expensive as a DOHC engine. Which is why the new engines are Supercharged LS3's since that is MUCH cheaper.

You ever driven an SS Trailblazer? If you haven't I'd suggest shutting up.

Good on you GM. From the moment I heard about this, I was afraid it would get a lame "SS" badge. I always said that "ZR-1" or "Stingray" was a much more fitting name based well within the Corvette's history.

Definitely the best name for the new Monster Vette. I always thought they should've named it ZR1. Cool.

Because thats Dodge, and this is GM...

Now how are you gonna have this Monster named SS in the same family as the other SS models in GM's lineup... this is something totally different...its not a trim level, its the real deal.
