Re: Corvette ZR1

This is what I had hoped for, after they trademarked the name back in November.

LOL, that's a bit harsh, but I think there is something to be said for having a consistant label denoting high performance; all those z things confuse me. I like simple SS, SVT(RIP), SRT, AMG, M, V,... monikers that mean "hey this is the best we got".

EDIT: of course SS has to actually be the best they've got not a glossed over version

Chevy needs to mix it up. Sport is good for some models. SS for others. Finally the Z cars carry a lot of pull, and should be kept.

The rest of GM's divisions need a cohesive performance brand because they didn't have one before. At least not like Chevy has at various times.

V-Series competes with most of the names you mentioned. SVT is a mishmash (it was used on 4 cars, and now isn't even used). SRT was tacked on to the Viper and created for the SRT-4. It isn't the same.

Re: Corvette ZR1

I love the ZR-1 name , it fits the mouse under the hood . Stingray should be preserved for a Rat . No Big Block , no Sting Ray !

Bring back the Rat !!!!

Wide valve covers and Sting Ray , no need for a blower if you have a long stroke!!! Kind of like ZL-1 some things are better left to the real engines.

Re: Corvette ZR1

Cool. ZR-1 sounds awesome. They brought back Z06 for the C5's which was a limited option on C2 Corvettes, now they've brought back the ZR-1 from 1971 and the early 90's. Rock On GM, If a Corvette were to be called SS, make the SS an add-on appearence package to any Corvette.

Re: Corvette ZR1

Man, Remember the original 1957 Corvette SS? (GM XP-64, They never made it of course but,...) It was Zora's Racer! (Also note the "1" on the car.) I believe Duntov + GM designed the car to actually begin the SS moniker!

The rocket on the back still makes me laugh though. But this was one super badass looking car by 1950's standards.

Re: Corvette ZR1

Good deal. A lot of folks were wondering if they'd bring back the King of the Hill moniker and now they have.

Good move by GM on this.

The required "King of the Hill" picture for historical reference
