Re: Chevrolet Camaro Executive Express Edition in the Works?
Give it some time people -- remember the impatient people buying GT500s for 90k? Their cars are worth what now? *Maybe* 30k?
I'll end up buying an SS from a guy who spent $50k on it, and I'll probably get it for $20k from him in 2 years!

Re: Chevrolet Camaro Executive Express Edition in the Works?
What I was getting at is there seems to be a few notable things that the Camaro lacks that could become available for 2011 that I would wait for:
- Green paint - Two-tone or expanded choices for interior trim - Push button start (what is that indent in the dash for, the one to the right of the steering column?) - Possible next gen small block? GM has a habit of always screwing up the first model year of any new car and the second year and afterwards is always better. Examples: - 2001 Corvette Z06, had 385hp. Revised LS6 in '02-'04 had 405hp. - 2003 (~1500 units) and 2004 SSR: Had the 5.3 V8, later models had the LS2, a much better choice and the engine that should have been there in the first place (yes, I know the LS2 wasn't available until 2005) - 2008 Lambdas: port injected 3.6 V6. 2009 onward have direct injection - 2005 Corvette: ugly steering wheel, automatic transmission shifter and center stack materials were cheap, got better with 2006+ model years, and a 4 speed automatic, replaced the next year with a 6 speed auto - 1993 Camaro Z28: Didn't have certain aspects of the LT1 ironed out in the first year of the fourth generation, which is why I bought a 1994, once these engine calibrations and emissions equipment imperfections were sorted out. - 1988 full-size pickups: My father had one, it was a constant gripe that the ECU programming in this first year of the redesigned trucks wasn't done well. Truck was low on power (170hp from a 305ci), idled rough, transmission shifts weren't well matched, and it lacked a tachometer. These issues were quickly addressed in subsequent model years. - 2004 GTO: LS1 later replaced by LS2, lack of hood scoops and side-side exhaust makes it truly look like the bloated Cavalier everyone claimed it looked like. I could go on, but even as a die-hard GM fan, I've learned you might regret buying the first model year of any new GM car. Odds are the second year onward will be a better buy. I'm waiting to see if the 2011 is really any different than the 2010. If not so much, then maybe I'll get one of the last 2010 models.

I am for whatever keeps the Camaro fresh in the eyes of the media like the endless special edition Mustangs. "For this year the horse is facing the other way!"

Agreed for more interior trim choices. No idea what the thing on the dash is, some people have stuck a nifty looking plate there with the Camaro badge.

Re: Chevrolet Camaro Executive Express Edition in the Works?
In my youth I was the happy owner of a 1970 Firebird "Esprit".
![]() It was meant, I believe, as competition for the Mustang "Grande". These were cars fitted with nice vinyl roofs and more softly and richly padded interiors. It appealed to those, like me, that admired the looks of the car (the 1970-72 Camaro and Firebird are among the most under rated and under appreciated designs since WWII) but didn't want or care about the rougher high performance versions. I think the Camaro Berlinetta came later, say the mid 70's. I would be very much interested to see this "Lux-aro".

Re: Chevrolet Camaro Executive Express Edition in the Works?
Guys. If they are talking an overhaul with the interior, this will be the FIRST time GM has EVER recognized a design polarization... Fixed, it, and hopefully improved it.
This is a perfect example of a GM that listened, understood it's public and then decided to execute it. Not in 2015, but very very soon! THE reason I didn't get a Camaro V6 outside of price was it's interior and gauges, this blows my mind that they would pay attention like that. I HOPE to God you can still buy one with a stick. |

Re: Chevrolet Camaro Executive Express Edition in the Works?
Camaro has promise, but interior is underwhelming... it looks retro in a clunky way.

Re: Chevrolet Camaro Executive Express Edition in the Works?
I just saw one of these for the first time a couple of months ago. I couldn't help but wondered what a mint conditioned "tricked out" version would look like with a nice 2JZ motor swap!

Now Ford is at it again with the newly updated Mustang with a bit more power than the '09. And for '11 Ford will add a pair of new engines with a lot more power. Dodge has been rumored to be replacing the Challenger's 3.5L V6with a 4.0L V6 and punching out the SRT8's engine to 6.4L. I think I'd hold off a year or so before buying a Camaro, Mustang, or Challenger.

A Camaro for the MBA set?
Step 1 is changing the name.

Re: Chevrolet Camaro Executive Express Edition in the Works?
I am in these everyday and couldn't complain about the things people are saying. The car is awesome. Not one single person that I have showed the Camaro too has mentioned all the criticism here. I wish for the best too, but suddenly things turned into bashing the car. I love the seats and steering wheel. I do wish the tap shift controls shifted up and down on each side liek the Corvette and Malibu.
I do hope that there are improvements already. I read a post here admiring Honda for listening and adressing. GM should too. There is always room for improvement. Maybe this will be the LTZ. like Lutz w/o the "u" |
