Cadillac is set to offer a full model line-up in Europe, according to GM president Dan Ammann, including “diesel and right-hand drive”. Ammann said Cadillac is mulling over a new approach to its European business that will attempt to take advantage of the fact that it is a niche brand by offering “exceptional service”.

Which is a bit peculiar, since Autocar reported, just a few months ago, that Cadillac will not relaunch in Europe until at least 2020, as it focuses on building its brand and volumes in the US and Asia, according to boss Johann de Nysschen.

It's also pretty misleading to look at the population figures, because most of the world doesn't buy luxury cars. BMW for example does about 45% of its business in Europe, and the situation is similar for the other brands. China and the US together account for another 40%.

Biggest luxury car markets 2013 (units):

Western Europe - 3.00 m
USA - 2.02 m
China - 1.54 m
Japan - 0.31 m
Rest of world - 1.39 m

If Cadillac is going to skip Europe, and they're already present in the US and China, then there's really not much left in terms of low-hanging fruit, because those remaining 1.39 m units are split across a lot of different countries.

Situation is such Europeans resent America for being the prominent leader and decisive beneficiary of two world wars and the ugly American "holier and better than thou" attitude of Americans. Like the sons and daughters of the Confederacy loyal to the Confederate Flag out of spite and pride Europeans are loyal to their heritage in consumer products.

Thing is American Corporations are uniquely well positioned to change the European perception of the American image on the European continent. It has been and still is the American Corporations that reinforce and maintain the American image abroad.

European autos are artificially expensive because of high taxes on fuel, displacement, and size, thus the reason they drive small cars.

Americans get the advantage of having more and being able to afford it. Let Europe be Europe. The future of the auto industry is in Asia.

So how's the invasion going? Not exactly D-Day yet, from what I can tell. :spit:

And this is GM's digital future. Opel dealer in the same city offering Cadillac/Corvettes/Camaros. The worst thing is they call themselves 'one and only official Cadillac/Corvette distributor'. Why does GM let them use this term at all??? They used to have around 10 cars on the lot. Frankly speaking they sold them quite quickly - especially the V8 Camaros and V6 XT5s. I e-mailed them about the CT5, I got reply 'we don't have it yet, but we have a nice white 2019 Camaro for You'. Future of automobile retailing at it's best. :fall:

How many plans to turn around Cadillac has GM had since this thread was created?
Just you wait until 2023!!

And another comparison, somehow FCA can find dealers in Europe that organise good-looking showrooms. Most are in fact multifranchise stores but I haven't found any single one that looks like crap. Last not least - if they offer sth. on their web page, it means they sell&service cars. And all those Rams, Durangos, Challengers don't have four-bangers under their hoods but V8s. Unbelievable!

Build it, and they will come.

Every contact person disappeared from cadillaceurope.com web page - just as every vehicle excluding XT4. So there's no Cadillac Europe official and Cadillac offer is limited to ONE CAR.

There are still two guys on their media site. How about an exclusive interview for GMi about Cadillac's EU assault :zippy:?
Frankly speaking they are either computer-generated people that don't exist or they are members of Mary Barra family who exploit GM money. What company in the world pays people for doing absolutely nothing? For their salary Cadillac could easily restore a few of their dealerships in U.S. Why do they keep thing called Cadillac Europe???

When the so-called 'Cadillac specialists' on official Cadillac Europe website appear to be a bunch of losers who either are just Opel dealers who don't want to deal with Cadillac or they can't help customer because 'we don't have software and tools, we can only change oil' YOU MUST TAKE THINGS IN HAND

This guy living in Belgium is servicing his tranny on the street. I wish he did it in front of Bloody Mary Barra's house. I am sure she has real estates somewhere in Europe.

Hopefully Wuling customers in EU will get proper customer care :fall:

Anyone who buys a Cadillac outside of North America and possibly China is asking for abuse.

It is the same back in the Arab homeland. You won’t find the parts and skill needed to maintain it.

If you are concerned with reliability and peace of mind, get a Lexus.

I thought it was kind of early for April 1.

And yes, Baitcar is fun. Too bad our masters of tolerance, diversity, and inclusiveness have decided cop shows like LivePD and Cops should not be allowed for the huddled masses.

#116 ·
I am not even going to check Baitcar as I am fed up with this kind of stories from local news. The newest BMW douchebag comes from an area where my friends live and often use the same road. That could have been them in that red car (the driver was killed, the douchebag survived)

I complain Cadillac&Corvette are so rare. No dealers, no service etc. But at least those who buy them on grey market are real enthusiasts not clowns who neither have skills nor brains.

These guys at the GM Swiss office with huge salaries work their fingers to the bone to push one Cadillac model through 20 dealers across whole continent. Meanwhile GM offers Escalade & CT5 in Japan with steering wheel on the wrong side. So nothing changes. GM is fighting...

Conark Shah, Managing Director Cadillac Europe.
Rene Kreis – Head of Public Relations bei Cadillac und Chevrolet
Caspar Winkelmann Head of Marketing & Product Planning
Martin Siegenthaler Head of Customer Experience & e-Commerce
Laszlo Lovassy – head of sales operations
Sakib Zaman – chief financial officer

And don't forget, EVs are coming and GM is studying them!

Upon curiosity, I went over to the Cadillac Europe website to search for dealerships near London.
There was only 1.
https://www.ianallanvirginiawater.co.uk

There were a few more around Munich.
here's the first one on the search page.

It would be nice if Cadillac had a better presence in Europe. But they don't have the time, energy, or money to do it. They barely have the appropriate product for Europe as well. They spent too much time trying to figure out diesel, that by the time they got one, diesels were being phased out in Europe.

From their website showing the relative importance of their brands, Cadillac gets half a line!

"We are also the sole UK authorised dealer for Cadillac Sales, Service and Parts.

Our new range of SsangYong models with prices from only ÂŁ13,300 for the all-new Tivoli offers the best value for money in the UK car market and every one comes with a full 5 Year Limitless Mileage Warranty. This Korean brand is well established world-wide and has been making 4 x 4 vehicles since 1954."

#122 ·
So, how's this assault going? Still in the planning stages?

#124 ·
the one and only UK dealer can't even get their web page right, it's as hard to access as good GM service

'Please complete the security check to access www.ianallanvirginiawater.co.uk'

now imagine this dealer will be responsible for c8 sales.
