Good move, this should increase its appeal to more people and increase power and mpg.

I really hope that isn't true...

Another year to year and a half with the current CTS? Thats not good...

    From the Camaro team:

"It is not the final document, as it does not include a complete or accurate list of models or content. As you can imagine, the VIN card requires a tremendous amount of collaboration to verify the production information for each model across all four GM brands sold worldwide.

Rest assured, when we finalize the 2014 VIN card, it will be complete and factually accurate."

    Exactly!

kill the 1.8, and introduce the 1.6. I like this idea.

I do hope those power numbers are just from the Euro version though...I am hoping to see a little more torque in the NA version.

im thinking 200 HP/200 Torque would look real nice on the spec sheet.

The 2LT/LTZ Cruze needs this badly.

(This is also fleshing out the line up for the 130R assuming it is built).

^^Agree with everyone on the Cruze. The 1.8 should go away...worse FE, slower, less refined than the 1.4, and it uses a timing belt. One way or the other the 1.4T should be standard....

The CTS Coupe and Wagon will be unchanged for 2014, which is why the VIN card is identical to 2013.

I think CAFE is slowly positioning the entire industry as turbo. Efficient cruise, and a nice blast of power when needed. CAFE improvements probably won't be what they appear to be, though, given owners' predilection for engaging that turbo blast more than needed.

Only downside is when these cars get older. Turbo repairs ain't cheap.

If the Cruze doesn't get this as an option that would be ludicrous. As others are saying the 1.8L engine needs to go away, the 1.4T should be the base engine (it's no better than a base engine anyway) and the 1.6 should be standard on all LT Models. That would fix the Cruze's most glaring weakness-the powertrain. Now, about those seats......

I wonder if this is going to be the basis for the range extender engine in the Volt and ELR. They need an engine that makes lots of low end torque, so they can keep the RPMs very low most of the time while the engine is running (to solve the Volt's current NVH when the engine runs, which really won't fly for a Cadillac.)

The Verano is beginning to sound like a good replacement for the Regal next year. Hmmm...

If this happened it'd be just great. One can document the amount of times I've supported the switch from the 2.4L to the 1.6T in the Verano. Changing the name of the current Turbo is just a badge change away.

Not concerned with this anymore. Have an old 6.5TD with 135K miles on the original turbo, had a '98 Cummins with 200K and sons '97 CTD has 180K with both CTDs running 35PSI of boost and none of afformentioned engines use modern water cooled center sections.

Since the initial report I've gotten the nod from a couple other sources about this. Looking legit.
