Ram 0-60 in 5.7 seconds

Truck Trend

I can't help but think Toyota should have a 2wd Tundra 5.7 reg cab short bed to compete. I know the first year they could do it, but it was a stripped "work truck". This Ram looks very nice, and I'm sure it'll be a hit.

I wonder if Chevy has plans to resurrect the Silverado SS?

The only real downside to the Ram is the requirement of midgrade gasoline to get this performance. Sure, it'll "run" on regular....just don't expect 0-60 in 5.7!

Re: Ram 0-60 in 5.7 seconds

I think Chevy has already put the 403 HP Motor into the Silvrado for 2009? 6.2-liter V8 with 403 HP, 417 lb-ft of torque and a six-speed ?

^ Corrections are bolded. I have no idea why you're trying to antagonize me into getting "banned". It's time to grow up now, OK? Tell "plane" while you're at it.

I posted Dodge Ram news in the Chrysler LLC Discussion forum. You have had NOTHING to contribute.

Re: Ram 0-60 in 5.7 seconds

With an as-tested price of $33,765 I'm curious to hear what advantages this regular-cab Dodge might possess over Pontiac G8ST?

At 4779 lbs its easy to recognise its disadvantages...

Re: Ram 0-60 in 5.7 seconds

In a head on collision, I'd rather be in the vehicle that weighs 1,000 lbs more!

You bring up a good point though; for better performance, the lighter, tighter, car-like G8ST would be a superior platform. However in America, we're not too used to those kinds of vehicles. Sure we've got the Honda Ridgeline, the Subaru Baja....but the last "real" car-truck we had was back in the 80's with the El Camino.

Advantages, payload and towing capacity. With the tailgate down plywood and sheetrock will lay flat on the floor of the bed.

I like both of them they just make different statements.

Re: Ram 0-60 in 5.7 seconds

At near 5000lbs i would really have to mod that 5.7 Hemi to get the power of my 06 modded C6 Vette.

Heads, cam, headers and a intake with a dyno tune would help that big Dodge.

Long story. He has been calling me a troll in a few other threads too. I actually had to delete some of my posts in another thread because I was getting carried away last night, and I wanted to be the bigger man. As it is, I am not particularly proud of post #4 in this thread......but I felt like sending a message that I am not going to be intimidated into leaving GMi.

Don't worry about it Euro. All of us need to vent and speak our minds once in awhile (I've done my fair share of venting posts once in awhile). Anyway just ignore him and I'm sure that he'll eventually get bored leave and go to another Forum. Anyway back on topic here. 5.7 seconds is not a bad 0 to 60 time for a Truck that is this size. the G8 ST will have a weight advantage but lets keep in mind that the Ram is a full size pickup and the ST is a car based Ute
