Dodge Caravan R/T spotted in its natural habitat (the stripmall)

An alert member of Autoblog shot pics of the this R/T tester while its driver was out shopping at a nearby best buy. Unlike other Minivans this one is equipped with SRT wheels, hood scoop, and other things that you wouldn't find on a typical soccer mom ride more at the link

The other day while my son and I were out and about in the GTO, we came up to a Dodge Grand Caravan that the owner had given the full SRT appearance treatment...it did not look good.

No wonder they don't have any time or money to build a descent mid-sized sedan. Chrysler is using all of its resources on hot rod minivans, because, as we all know, Americans want a minivan that can do 0-60 in 5 seconds more than they want a sedan with a respectable interior.

Not bad looking at all, I would definitely pick one as a people hauler over a CUV

I think it would give people who hate driving minivans because they are sooo boring a reason to consider one. The market is probably pretty small though.

That's the kind of market you go after when you have all your other ducks lined up. As HoosierRon says, it seems like a bit of a distraction to be working on a project like this when your midsize sedans are last-in-class.

And your large sedans are into their golden years.

And you don't have a small car.

I wish they would move the shifter off the dash, it looks dumb there, it looks dumb there when Honda does it!! Why are you copying an ugly, dumb feature??

These were shot in Auburn Hills, only a couple of miles from the HQ.

What crack is Dodge smoking?

Ford Flex will be packing 350hp next year... they better be ready with something more than a ground effects kit.

I would like to say I am fond of the looks of this minivan but I know the interior in this Dodge is rubbish. Even in Voyager it is only acceptable. But if Chrysler got rid of the grey color inside it wouldn't look bad. May sound easy but it's not easy to understand for Chrysler...

All of Chrysler's interiors are absolute ****, not just those in the minivans

However, let's get some perspective here........

Here's a 2002 300M interior

....and the interior from a 2002 Town & Country LX

So yeah, somewhere along the way those schmucks at Daimler must've really thrown Chrysler over a barrel....because just 6 yrs ago they were producing interiors that were at least decent compared to the tupperware-laden ones we all know/see today.....

Re: Dodge Caravan R/T spotted in its natural habitat (the stripmall)

They did something like this in 1996 with a sported-up Caravan. It was in auto shows.

Such a vehicle made more sense then (or should I say less nonsense?) than it does now. Chrysler was doing well and gas was cheap.

Re: Dodge Caravan R/T spotted in its natural habitat (the stripmall)

I still can't believe they are actually even considering a R/T Caravan. I'll admit it would be a nice change of pace from the boring styling that is on most minivans right now. However If the engine remains unchanged then there really would be no point for a hood scoop and Brembo brakes to be even on it. Also i question the timing or even the rationale for this car when Chrysler has much more important projects to worry about such as the Project D car, the A segment car project with Fiat, and their promise to improve interior quality.

That thing looks stupid, if I saw someone driving that thing next to me I would point and laugh.

I'd whip that but Chrysler's got bigger problems right now.

Unless they put the Hemi or Viper V10 in it, then it would be ok
