Re: Dealer markup on a new Challenger

I don't like the looks of the car, never did, beginning with the concept.....I was in highschool when the first one came out, and this bloated, hyper-retro version leaves me cold.

Re: Dealer markup on a new Challenger

The Dodge store owned by the company that I work for got a little over $15,000 above MSRP for it's '08 Challenger (from a $20,000 addendum). Complain as much as you all want to, but it didn't take any of you for them to sell the car. Historically, Z06's out of this Chevy store received $20,000 adjustments as well. But as the market went away so did the addendums. The only problem here is that most of you are offended by the markups.

Re: Dealer markup on a new Challenger

This is nothing new, it happens with any new car that's hot, or at least perceived to be.
If no one will pay the markup, in time there will be no markup. Dealers don't want cars
laying around very long, no matter what it is. I remember when the Mustang came, and
even to a lesser degree the GTO. Many idiots who just had to have one right away paid
markups, or at least sticker price. By 2006, the dealers where marking down GTO's as
they were sitting around. You can get 0% on Mustangs for the last few years now, and
there's a crap load of them to be had. There's just not an endless supply of people willing
to pay too much for a car, but while there is you can bet the dealers are going to ride the
wave.

Re: Dealer markup on a new Challenger

Like I said before when the G8 first came out, just wait a few months and the markups will be in more sensible territory and the dealers will be less ridiculous about test drives. Markups unfortunately are unavoidable and they are usually meant to put a few extra dollars in the dealers greedy pockets. I just hope the dealers don't go too overboard with markups when the new Camaro hits their lots

You're right. As the Challenger enters its 5th month of production, with thousands sold and delivered so far, problems have been extremely minimal.

You can count on markups when the Camaro arrives. Especially in
this market. Dealers will be trying to hit a home run. But like almost
any other car just wait a while......

My father and I were checking out Challengers, the SRT8 had a $12,000 Simoniz package.

Re: Dealer markup on a new Challenger

I stopped at Jake Sweeney Tri-County Dodge (Cincinnati area) this morning to check out the Challenger. They had a Black and a Hemi Orange SRT's sitting on the showroom, both were factory stickered at $41,000+ with a ADM of $25,000 for a total of over $66,000. To top it off they were both locked, I had to ask the salesman to unlock it just to sit in it. I guess they can not let just any peasant sit in these things. I asked for a brochure and left.

Re: Dealer markup on a new Challenger

The worst ADP...additional dealer profit....I ever saw on an actual dealer sticker was $200,000 "market adjustment" on a Rolls Royce Phantom Drophead. On a domestic car it was $20,000 on the first ZO6 I ever saw...at Courtesy {?????** Chevrolet in San Jose, Ca. back in August of 2001. I asked the sales manager if some customers might think of it negatively toward the dealership. He said he didn't care because he would find a newly rich Silicon Valley computer tech to buy it. I then asked what about the 100's of other customers that might mistake it for greed........No Answer.

Re: Dealer markup on a new Challenger

Gulfgate Dodge on the southside of Houston had Challengers advertised for "thousands off MSRP" (or something like that) in the paper this past Sunday. I did a search on Dodge.com and the only ones listed at the dealership are V-6 models. I imagine some dealers are willing to deal already on these cars. I love it, but i'm waiting a year before buying just to see if I like the new Camaro in the flesh.

If you really want a Challenger, just wait. In time, they'll be giving them away.
