Chrysler Turbine returns, in tribute form

    Published January 25, 2013

It was a forward-looking product of the jet age, and now it’s back, in tribute form.

The experimental Chrysler Turbine turns 60 this year, and Chrysler has created a special edition version of its 300 sedan to commemorate the anniversary.

The one-off car is finished with a number of features that pay homage to the original, including Turbine Bronze paint, machined-billet grille work and black light bezels meant to echo the 1963 car’s distinctive shadowed, intake-style headlight design.

I see zero resemblance to the original, but a nice thought anyway. I always thought the turbine was an interesting idea, too bad it never really worked.

Bit of a mislead; chrysler's long-running Turbone program may well be 60 years old, but the most famous one, as shown in the article, is a '63... Or 50 years old, not 60.

I was wondering what the deal with this car was, I saw it at NAIAS and thought it looked horrible, and I am a fan of the 300 normally.

Hardy har har! I see you and raise you an LOL, and I call.

Is this a joke? Bronze paint and "turbine style 22" (Pimp) wheels" do not hark back to anything except some overpaid/undercreative exec's make-work project.

First, it needs a black vinyl roof. Then it needs external speakers linked to the engine computer so the caah can at least generate some TURBINE SOUNDS.

Nice try--no, not really, more like sad in a sad way--but ridiculous unless you think the public is even dumber than I think it is. Well, that's a debatable point...

Ford also tried with turbine engines too, this time with an heavy-duty medium truck. http://www.streetfire.net/video/1970...mv_2414779.htm

I was thinking if they could have at least made it the same shade of bronze.

It was a tribute to the turbine car, not a recreation. and the color is probably the same color just Matte finished. sometimes Clear coats adds a Tent and somtimes enhances a base color.

A "tribute" should whine like a turbine.

I saw the 300 during press days. I don't know why they wasted their money or floor space on this.
A 300 painted like the Turbine car.
I really would like to ride in the real deal, though.
