Are Chrysler killing the GC? Or moving it to another plant?

I don't know if they are killing the GC but the only clue about the new model is that it will be more efficient than the current GC so this model could either be a completely redesigned GC or a new model all together.

Why doesn't Chrysler try to build a decent car for once?? Apparently that's too much of a strain for them......

No no, the GC will remain. IF the Durango survives, it'll move on to the next-gen GC platform.

The Challenger, 300C, Charger, Minivans, '09 Ram, Grand Cherokee, Viper, Journey, Patriot, and Wrangler are decent cars.

FWD'ers.....i.e. Avengers/Sebrings that can compete with the rest of the market....

All the above are decent cars, but I think the public's forgotten about their accolades already....

LaSorda, in a statement this morning, did not reveal the vehicles, but told Detroit radio station WJR-AM 760 it would be a car-based SUV. He was speaking here at the Management Briefing Seminars.

LaSorda later said the new SUV will retain the Grand Cherokee name, Reuters reported.

Hmm, so would we be looking at it using the Avenger/Sebring chassis or is it going to be based on the LX chassis?? Or is it all new??

LaSorda says that the plant will produce a car-based 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee that will use Chrysler’s new Phoenix powertrains.
I do not agree w/them building the GC on a car-based SUV platform. It takes away from Jeeps history. For going off road, It seems to me it will get an AWD system instead of a 4x4 system in which it should have. Thus the car-based GC will **** up Jeep!

Jeeps' should never ever be car-based. The Compass & Patriot are proof of this
IMO the Compass & the Patriot should both be axed. They are not worthy of the Jeep brand.

Isn't the GC already unibody?

Yeah, from what I have read.
Making the Grand Cherokee car-based underminds Jeeps off road utilitiness.

When they say "car-based" that usually means "unibody." The Grand Cherokee has always been unibody.
