Auto Express drives the Dodge Avenger Stormtrooper

Thought this was an interesting read:

http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/carrevi...rmtrooper.html

Didn't realize Chrysler was letting journalists drive the Stormtrooper concept car...

For what its worth, if I were Dodge, I'd take the SRT4's I4 Turbo and throw it into the Avenger as a hotted up version with a stick shift -- but that's just me

Re: Auto Express drives the Dodge Avenger Stormtrooper

OMG. I have so many thoughts going through my mind. At first glance, I actually like the look. But I can't help but think of how "behind" the styling is (even though the writer seems to think it futuristic). I am talking about the white wheels, and the bleached tail lamps in particular, but also the body colored interior panels. These are things we did to our Hondas 13 years ago!

I do however like nadepalma's idea of using a turbo I4 and a 6MT for the powerplant!

Great idea... Star Wars fans live in their parents basements and don't have drivers licences. Way to target the perfect demographic!

I thought that ugly monochromatic look died in the 80s...

Body-colored interior trim still looks good, as long as that color doesn't happen to be white!

I don't think it looks "bad", but it's certainly not futuristic or fresh like the article makes it seem. I agree the white is a little much....it could be good if pieces are small, but when one third of the interior is white.......that's way too much.

Re: Auto Express drives the Dodge Avenger Stormtrooper

The exterior styling is tacky but the powertrain and tranny enhancements would be great in a SRT model of the avenger if dodge ever decides to do one

Re: Auto Express drives the Dodge Avenger Stormtrooper

Cool if you ask me, but as mentioned, the white interior pieces and body color wheels are out of style (both factory and aftermarket)

EDIT: I finished the article...I think the exterior is okay...give it an MCE, new interior w/ steering wheel (i really don't like that version of the corporate chrysler wheel), and 400 HP in an SRT6 edition and youd' have a pretty good line up. That SRT would probably kick the azz of any upcoming SHO

Re: Auto Express drives the Dodge Avenger Stormtrooper

I for one find the car to be inherently ugly and ungainly, so color treatments and trim work don't do a thing to make it look more appealing to me.

Re: Auto Express drives the Dodge Avenger Stormtrooper

That thing is putting out 400 hp naturally aspirated? Does any other production six cylinder engine in the world make 100 bhp/liter without forced induction?

And why wouldn't they make this AWD, especially when the regular Avenger already has an optional AWD system?

While there was a Nazi Stormtrooper organization, the Stormtrooper reference here come from Star Wars:
